Perhaps you missed "haven't seen one person suggest that it makes every single final decision on anything."

I've always said I thought Hyde runs whatever the computer spits out as his lineup barring sickness or injury that need to be taken into consideration. That doesn't mean I think SIGBOT makes all the decisions during the game or roster moves, trades, etc.

I interpreted "on anything" to mean individual decisions such as the lineup, in-game decision, roster moves, trades, etc. What you meant to write was "on everything". But you're the authority on what can be discussed, debated, what constitutes a joke, and what the proper semantics would be.

Sigbot just generalizes the Orioles use of a computer system designed by Sig and analyzed by several people to give the Orioles brass additional information. I haven't seen one person suggest that it makes every single final decision on anything. Perhaps you can go find some posts where someone has said that.

"Just the way it's played out"

Read that as, "It's just the way the Sigbot gives me the lineups and I didn't keep this job through all those years of losses by denying what the Sigbot tells me to do."

Hyde loves his veterans and he doesn't understand or perhaps more precisely, doesn't value keeping his entire bench fresh. Earl was a master at that.

While Hyde is very good at some things, he his track record suggests he'll run his same 9 out there every day (platoon specific of course) until they break or get so tired they become ineffective. then he'll give a guy who hasn't played in a week a start and watch him go 0-for-4.

    Back-to-back posts. Impressive.

Easily 500k, as a low bar. The guy I spoke with in the membership area last week said there was 9k new Flexible memberships this year.

That'd be about a 26% increase in attendance over last year, with average per game attendance of 30k/game. That'd be outstanding and back in line with what we saw from 2013-2015. Based on the last two series, I don't think it's a stretch to see that as a possibility, but I personally wouldn't call it the low bar for expectations just yet.

He's not a better player than Henderson.  Stop.

I once saw Jordan Westburg lift a burning car off of a trapped mother and child with his bare hands. He crushed the car down into a small ball and then launched it into orbit with a flick of his wrist.

  5. Bowie manager Roberto Mercado said after the game that Bradish came away from the outing feeling like he was ready to continue his rehab progression. And beyond the way he commanded his entire arsenal, the strongest indicator of where Bradish is might have come from the obscenities he occasionally shouted.

While the fear was Bradish’s post-pitch four-letter words were related to his elbow, it was instead in frustration after he didn’t execute a pitch. Bradish had high expectations for himself, and that’s usually the territory of healthy pitchers, not injured ones.

Sorry, I just disagree. And it was not rant, it was me stating my opinion. You clearly must be too young to remember Brooks Robinson or have some kind fan love for Cal, but he made a comment he should have never have said. Ever. He knew it, and he never really apologized for it. Brooks was too big of man to be upset with Cal over the disrespect. I can appreciate that from him, but like Mu$$ina will always be Mu$$ina to me, Cal will always be a traitor for saying "Sorry Brooksey" and then saying some BS about Beltre being the best ever DEFENSIVELY.

Cal's answer is this was complete BS. This is what annoys me more about him. He literally tried to come up with some BS about physicality. That's not what he said. He literally said, "Sorry Brooksey, Beltre is the best defensive third basman he'd ever seen."

He could have said Beltre has the best tools of any third baseman. He did not, then he doubles down in this interview and others trying to say some BS.

"Sorry Brooksey" is one of the most insulting things I've ever heard a legend of one team say to another Legend of the same organization.

Oh, and add in his garbage ownership of the Ironbirds where he went a whole year with no announcer and a one camera video of Ironbird games and one of the worse fan experiences I ever had at a minor league game in 2021, and yeah, I'll pass on this legend.

I acknowledged my age preventing me from watching Brooks play.  I liked Cal just fine growing up, certainly wouldn't say I was a fanboy or opposed to him in any way. I just looked at your opinion and thought it was over the top to such an extent that it came across as unhinged. Also, the quote you attribute to Cal doesn't seem to match what has been posted elsewhere in this thread.

Howbdoes one possibly come to that conclusion from this video?

Assuming this is in response to the interview I posted?

He's just saying the entire MLB is bigger, faster, stronger, and as such Beltre can do things defensively (physically) that Brooks couldn't do. I think we see that across most sports, and I guess I don't see that as being that controversial.

It was not only slanderous, but traitorous. He even said, "Sorry Brooksey" and then went about telling everyone on National TV that Beltre was the best DEFENSIVE third baseman of all time. Even if he believed that, you don't say that about Brooks Robinson and his 16 consecutive Gold Glove Awards.

Cal is an Orioles legend, with that comes responsibility, and one of those things is to tarnish the legacy of other Orioles legends. If he had said Beltre was the best overall 3B that might be different, but defensive 3B? Heresy.

To me, he stopped being someone I enjoyed. No one, and I mean no one should ever, ever say anything bad about Brooks Robinson. Cal tried to back up once he realized he stepped on it but I do think there's a segment of the population that won't forgive him for doing that in his short-lived (because he was terrible) analyst role.

Good grief. I'm too young to have seen Brooks play, and I don't follow Beltre enough to comment, but for the life of me I can't see this type of rant being needed for the man just expressing his opinion in a commentary role. I just dug up a quick interview he did on it after the fact and it seems to be a reasonable position. Maybe it's not correct, but it seems like it's just his honest opinion. I don't know why he "owes" it to us to tell us differently if this is what he believes.

Kevin did exactly what you’re describing just last night. Like almost word for word with your example. The idea that they ‘constantly’ forget there’s a game going on is just ridiculous.

It's also TV. Not the end of the world if they're speaking during a pitch sequence on the television broadcast IMO.

Overall, O’Hearn was a very slick pickup. Getting him to agree to the $3 million team option for 2025 was a slick move as well. He probably shouldn’t play RF, but stuff happens over a long season and we may see that again. I think the bad feelings of the Crush Davis contract rubbed off a little on O’Hearn. Just similar looking players.

He’s not blocking Kjerstad. Kjerstad is our Santa replacement. Stowers is just being blocked because he’s LH and he’s behind the other LH hitting OF types in the MLB.

It's a $7.5m team option for 2025. I'm not sure the O's will pick it up.

Agreed that Kjerstad is blocked by Santander more than by O'Hearn though, and that O'Hearn and Kjerstad could coexist on the same roster in 2025. Quite a lot will change between now and then, I'm sure.

Do they do MRI's along the way during these rehabs to see if the ligament looks any different/better? Or do they just fire in the PRP and hope for the best?

IIRC, during one of Elias' spring training game interviews, he was asked about this and he replied that yes, they do follow-up imaging, and it was trending positively.

I didn't have an inclination to do so, but I knew you would 🤷‍♂️

I just imagine trying to fill three hours while coming off as entertaining, and I tip my cap.

Just down 2-3 shots before the first inning like Gary would, and see where the night would take you.

  13. Ben’s a gem. He can take the occasional comment that might go too far or might be too deep in the weeds and still play it off, even if he’s smiling through an eye roll. Dude has hardly any ego at all as far as I can tell.

But give me Kevin’s shtick any day of the week. He’s genuinely having fun and if he misses on 1/5 or 1/10 of his swings as a broadcaster, that’s fine by me. I much prefer a little bit of a playful edge, and the reason I think it works so well is he, Ben and Palmer all seem to genuinely enjoy each other.

Hmm ok, that's fair. Yeah it was just the awkwardness about it, like he just couldn't quite figure out what to do at the last second. Good to know it was a tougher play than I thought at the time.

I'm pretty close to handing the leadoff spot back to Mullins, who is now up to .261/.327/.500.

I'd like to see something like:

    Mullins - CF
    Gunnar - SS
    Adley - C
    O'Hearn - DH
    Mountcastle - 1B
    Cowser - RF
    Westburg - 3B
    Hays - LF
    Holliday - 2B

Hays really only playing because Tony needs a break.

    SO close.
