He won't give up on the mountain of money he got.

That along with continued pitching success at Bowie could make 2021 reasonably entertaining.
What about Hanser Alberto?

My point is this team is looking at a 110 loss season, it was a no brainer to trade Cashner for prospects for a free agent to be next year going to be 33. I can't see anyone dispute this.

Sure it's not Aaron Boone?

Is there a run down on the O's International signings today?
I am pissed how the Yankees can get the best player? It is all about the money. I have the right to my feelings.

What about winning the 2020 #1 pick?

The Orioles are close to a deal with No. 1 overall draft pick Adley Rutschman, reports Jon Heyman of MLB Network (via Twitter). The former Oregon State catcher’s No. 1 overall slot carries a value of $8.42MM. Rutschman isn’t the only top O’s pick on whom there’s news today, however; MLB.com’s Jim Callis reports (also via Twitter) that the team’s second-rounder, Gunnar Henderson, has agreed to a deal worth $2.3MM. A high school shortstop out of Alabama, Henderson will receive a bonus that is well north of his No. 42 selection’s $1.771MM slot value.

Gunner Henderson on verge of signing.
Here’s a look at the latest noteworthy draft signings, with the newest moves at the top of the post. Click here for the full list of slot values and draft pool bonuses, and you can find prospect rankings and scouting reports from Baseball America’s Top 500, Fangraphs’ Top 200, MLB.com’s Top 200, and the Top 50 of ESPN.com’s Keith Law….
- Gunnar Henderson, the first pick of the second round (42nd overall), has decided to sign with the Orioles and will officially do so in a few days’ time, Maria Martin of WSFA 12 News reports (Twitter link). Contract terms aren’t known, though the 42nd overall pick has a recommended slot price of $1,771,100 and Baltimore’s offer might well have exceeded that number to get Henderson to break his commitment to Auburn. Henderson was ranked by MLB.com as the 27th-best prospect of the class, with BA (30th), Fangraphs (40th) and Keith Law (42nd) also giving high grades to the Alabama high schooler. Henderson is praised for his hitting potential and some scouts feel he can remain at shortstop, though there is some thought that a move to third base is inevitable.

Hi Weams
Is there an update on the O's 1st - 5th Draft picks? Are they going to be tough to sign? Is money the issue? Or is it a question whether they want to back to school? It is frustrating when a pick is taken and he decides to reenter the draft next year.

Is there any progress on more signings other than the 20 signed? It seems stagnant right now.

What is the update on the first 2 picks?

Are we talking about the 2019 draft? And if you would like to have a serious conversation, please spell the players’ names correctly.
I made a general observation that the Yankees, Rays and Dodgers have had historically great farm systems through drafts, if you read my first comment. I am not going to list every player that that they drafted ever that you said. I am tired of people looking for one negative and ignore the rest of what is written. To you all that have so much pride about the O's and being defensive. But be honest, the O's have not had a great farm system since 1983 I don't care what you want to believe, but the O's don't measure one bit to those 3 teams. Those teams have intelligent people who can recognize talent even if their pick is #30 or #60, they know what their doing, Even if the O's draft a player with awesome talent, they don't know how to develop them, especially pitchers like those teams. So don't like me, but the truth hurts.

Huh, what in the world are you talking about? The Dodgers actually failed to sign their top pick last year.
The signings will be listed here, it usually takes a couple weeks, no reason to worry, most are probably already signed or agreed to deals but they haven’t been announced/reported.
Ballinger and Beuler weren't missed draft picks. Who on the O's are that caliber.
-
How do i know who has signed? Most teams signed at least 1 player, The Yankees already signed 7 players. It is amazing how the Yanks, Rays / Dodgers sign studs year after year, I am soooooo jealous.

I thought Mancini is young and part of our future to build on. I really don't believe we will get much for him. I think teams are going to give us not prospects and low ball us.

Yes, they lost the 2nd round pick for that signing.
The main unsigned pick is Blaine Knight, he's been in Baltimore for a physical, but no announcement yet. It's hard to imagine him not signing if his physical is not a disaster, the Orioles have about 1.1M of bonus money left to offer him. How much he signs for will dictate whether there is money left to sign Caleb Kilian or other later round overslot candidates.
What does it mean:
3. - (87. $663,200) Blaine Knight - RHP-Arkansas that looks like he signed for $663,200 on the list?
-
Did the O's miss the 2nd pick due to the Cobb signing? Are there any important picks not signed yet?
I am happy they signed all their top picks.

What a long Oriole career.

The players union would fight it, but the best thing would be for the Orioles to restructure the remaking portion of CD’s contract into an annuity to be paid out the next twenty years.
As bad as Ryan Howard was, he never hit like this and his WAR would have been better if he had the option to DH.
6 hours ago, Roy Firestone said:How miserable would you be if you knew that no matter what, someone owed you more than 131 million dollars? Ive always been pro player and still am, but the guaranteed contract has hurt the game badly. I wish there were a clause whereby if a player was so awful (with numbers and percentages that would be agreed upon in advance..a kind of reverse incentive clause)that the team had a chance to re-negociate a buyout at a fairer price. Of course the union wouldn't allow it...but this contract(which I supported) has helped destroy this organization for the foreseeable future. They can't afford players who could help them and first base is blocked and it won't be unblocked for years.A complete and total disaster and there are things I know and cant talk about that are going on in the clubhouse that would make the fans very angry...
I think the contract should be based solely on incentives. The fans deserve a competitive team not a player get rewarded and rich with no obligation.
-
You hope he gets injured like Albert Belle and Peter Angelis can collect insurance on him? I know it is a cruel thing to say but the union forces the owner to honor the contract where CD is not obligated to do anything.
-
I can't stand this guy. He got his money why try anymore. There is no challenge to prove anything. I wish it was like NFL, where as a player don't produce just cut him and no pay. A player should be obligated to produce according to what he signed up to do. Trying is not an excuse.

Tom Phoebus Died
in Orioles Talk
Posted
I remember Tom Phoebus no hitter. He came up as a surprise prospect. That is what I remember him for. Another chip from my childhood goes away. I hate to hear of my childhood players passing.
