We have some pitching prospects almost ready, that could be the difference and hope for the future.

It is so hard to stomach the O's rebuild. I know it needs to be done, but it is hard to take. The season hasn't even started yet and we know we are facing a more than 110 loss season. It is so hard watching other teams making moves while we trade away our 2 best players for what little hope we can have for an entertaining season.

Hope all the other teams get stoned and maybe the O's win W.S. Aerosmith sung Dream On!!!!!

The O's made the right move. Bundy was too inconsistent anyway. If one or two players from the deal pan out we come out ahead.

At least we get the #2 pick if we are going to be bad let's beef up our farm system to build for a Houston like dynasty. Why be 70-92 and get mediocre draft picks. So in a way we had a successful year.

Why don't the O"a use CD as a coach since they have to pay him anyway and it opens up a roster spot? I would hate to release him and he hits 50 homers somewhere else, while we pay him and he performs because he has no pressure for his new team to prove to them like he has to justify $160 mil for O's.

I remember Tom Phoebus no hitter. He came up as a surprise prospect. That is what I remember him for. Another chip from my childhood goes away. I hate to hear of my childhood players passing.

My point is this team is looking at a 110 loss season, it was a no brainer to trade Cashner for prospects for a free agent to be next year going to be 33. I can't see anyone dispute this.

The Orioles are close to a deal with No. 1 overall draft pick Adley Rutschman, reports Jon Heyman of MLB Network (via Twitter). The former Oregon State catcher’s No. 1 overall slot carries a value of $8.42MM. Rutschman isn’t the only top O’s pick on whom there’s news today, however; MLB.com’s Jim Callis reports (also via Twitter) that the team’s second-rounder, Gunnar Henderson, has agreed to a deal worth $2.3MM. A high school shortstop out of Alabama, Henderson will receive a bonus that is well north of his No. 42 selection’s $1.771MM slot value.

- Gunnar Henderson, the first pick of the second round (42nd overall), has decided to sign with the Orioles and will officially do so in a few days’ time, Maria Martin of WSFA 12 News reports (Twitter link). Contract terms aren’t known, though the 42nd overall pick has a recommended slot price of $1,771,100 and Baltimore’s offer might well have exceeded that number to get Henderson to break his commitment to Auburn. Henderson was ranked by MLB.com as the 27th-best prospect of the class, with BA (30th), Fangraphs (40th) and Keith Law (42nd) also giving high grades to the Alabama high schooler. Henderson is praised for his hitting potential and some scouts feel he can remain at shortstop, though there is some thought that a move to third base is inevitable.

Hi Weams
Is there an update on the O's 1st - 5th Draft picks? Are they going to be tough to sign? Is money the issue? Or is it a question whether they want to back to school? It is frustrating when a pick is taken and he decides to reenter the draft next year.

I made a general observation that the Yankees, Rays and Dodgers have had historically great farm systems through drafts, if you read my first comment. I am not going to list every player that that they drafted ever that you said. I am tired of people looking for one negative and ignore the rest of what is written. To you all that have so much pride about the O's and being defensive. But be honest, the O's have not had a great farm system since 1983 I don't care what you want to believe, but the O's don't measure one bit to those 3 teams. Those teams have intelligent people who can recognize talent even if their pick is #30 or #60, they know what their doing, Even if the O's draft a player with awesome talent, they don't know how to develop them, especially pitchers like those teams. So don't like me, but the truth hurts.

The signings will be listed here, it usually takes a couple weeks, no reason to worry, most are probably already signed or agreed to deals but they haven’t been announced/reported.
Ballinger and Beuler weren't missed draft picks. Who on the O's are that caliber.
