  1. Also Yankee Stadium 4 days a great park for lefties - rest Hays through Allstar - he is D2D with only 7 games to go before the break makes no sense not to bring him CC up. Also wait until you see todays lineup with Frazier in LF!
  2. Palmer, McDonald and KB drinking on the air. I would be too if I were calling this game. Glad they are able to keep it entertaining.
  3. I suspect with no basis that Adley or the team is hiding/managing something that is not enough to warrant the DL. He is too important to the team and 70% Adley is still better than most . Whatever the issue is it doesn't impact his running/speed. Right now Adley is a good game manager and handler of pitchers who does not scare runners with his arm, walks a bunch and legs out infield hits, typically when no one is on base.
  4. 100% Tony. Sometimes when you get go head to head with a more athletic/younger team you get exposed. Os looked old and slow tonight. Frazier has sub-par range at 2B - a better fielding 2B - Joey Ortiz ? - gets to most of those balls and Reds score 3-4 runs, Os win. A faster RF probably makes those 10th in plays tonight maybe the game stays tied. It's weird but OHearn, Hicks, Santander, Frazier, a reduced Mullins, a tired/fatigued Adley and a few bad pitchers and the team gets out hustled and outplayed by the Reds.
  5. Just hate it when team leadership gets stubbown. Santander is not a consistent enough RF, doesn't have the foot speed to cover the ground or make up for late reads. Very few good teams would make him the everyday RF. Play Hicks, DH Santander, play him at 1B.
  6. Believe Hyde wanted to "save" Mckenna to PR for Ohearn who would have started the 10th at 2B. Overthought things.
  7. love the oh now that I have given up 3 runs I can get some guys out.
  8. No Mckenna defensive replacement? I am guessing cause Hyde was planning on PR him for OHearn in bottom of 10th, but that was the wrong move.
  9. He has trade value and probably would succeed like he did with the Os in a lower pressure, play every day scenario for a team that can afford to weather the fallow times because they are not in a pennant race.
  10. Agree that Adley has been disappointing. For me it's l about the plate appearances. Early in the season every at bat was exciting, he seemed to playing at a different level, rarely swung at a bad pitch and always seemed to come up with the big hit if he wasn't pitched around. Now he seems to be grounding out to 2B or to the SS positioned up the middle, swinging at bad pitches and not taking as many walks i.e. a slump. Hopefully he resets and reigns hellfire on opposing pitchers in the second half.
  11. I suspect part of this is could be about Henderson at SS more. Mateo to bench. Westburg subs for Frazier against LHP, plays 3B against righties, Urias plays 1B against RHP or vice versa. Urias and Mateo become more spot starters. Ortiz needs PT at SS and AB’s probably benefits from a few more reps in AAA. Also likely means Mountcastle could be down for awhile or traded.
  12. Expect it to be Ortiz down. Lester designated.
  13. Really no reason to bring Mountcastle back he is not hitting and has never been an upper tier defensive 1B.
  14. Mountcastle to the Phillies makes a ton of sense. They need RH bats, 1B help. Big change of scenery play and a park better suited for RH pull power. Probably regret this trade but Os have depth and ultimately plenty of options to enable this type of trade. Not sure who you get back. This would also create a path for Westburg to be RHH INF at 1B/2B/SS/3B. IMO decision comes down to who is better RHH Westburg or Mountcastle and who provides more defensive flexibility/upside.
  15. “How can you not be romantic about baseball?” Great line from Moneyball - fully applies here today.
  16. Westburg will be up by next week. Plays 2B against LHP, 3B against RHP. Move Urias back to spot starting. Henderson plays more SS. Mateo to bench or traded.
  17. Mountcastle seems lost. Watching him last night was very discouraging. He is swinging as soon the ball is pitched regardless of where it is thrown, zero pitch recognition. Something is wrong - is he unwilling to make adjustments, listen to the hitting coaches, watch video or unable to? Sometimes players lose their way - see Cody Bellinger - and then recover with a new environment/coaches - see 2012-2016 Chris Davis. He needs a complete reset and should stay in Norfolk through the All-Star break. Good trade candidate for a relief pitcher - could see KC, Oakland, Dodgers taking a shot. Given his age, barrel result, EV when he makes contact, most teams will determine they can fix him. Os would be better served moving on unfortunately.
  18. It was fun while it lasted. Mullins injury really hurt. The fact Adam Frazier is the lead off replacement and Hyde and Elias are ok with that is baseball malpractice.
  19. We may have the see the best version of this team in April and June. Os have a better record than the Brewers but haven’t had an easy win like this all year. Not dominating but wining a bunch of tight games. Team looks worn out. If Elias refuses to call up better players is he still tanking?
