  1. BINGO! Three days ago Gunnar said he had only had a few games played with Jackson this summer and honestly I don't remember them.
  2. I agree we are going to need a true # 1 top of the rotation pitcher. Fried is not going to be available in my opinion. I do think there is a #1 starting pitcher that should be available. That being said you are not going to be able to trade a bag of balls and bats to land one. The pitcher I have in mind is Dylan Cease. The White Sox need to go into a full rebuild ( which we all know takes 4 to 5 years ) Cease at 27 is to old to wait 5 years before the White Sox are close to contending. Okay guys don't yell at the messenger. I think It would take G. Henderson and K. Stowers. To get him. Cease is a 27 year old with three years remaining under team control. He makes 5.7 million a year. A perfect Oriole fit. Why would we give up Henderson, you ask? He is never going to be the starting short stop on the orioles. We have Mateo now that is a much better fielder. Holliday is maybe 2 to 3 years away and is also a better fielding short stop. This means that Gunnar is destined to be our third baseman. At this point Gunner appears to be a below average to average third baseman. I am not saying he will not improve with time. I think we have better fielding prospects than him on the farm and I think equal hitters. I think Jordan Westburg at third and Dylan Cease make the Orioles a much better team now and in the future. Stowers is easily replaced. The White Sox will need Gunnar because they also need to trade Tim Anderson who will garner them three or so high prospects. The Oriole management has done a great job of putting us in the position to be able to make a trade like this. We are going to have to give up good quality players to get top flight pitching and depth.
  3. Another thing I should also have pointed out is that pitchers are forced to sidestep with decreases velocity and become easier to hit.
  4. Players that can steal bases, lead to fastballs for batters. Players in scoring position means a base hit can score runs and you don't need an extra base hit. Players that can steal bases at a high percentage put pressure on defenses, which lead to errors. Base stealing is one of our biggest assets. We need to run.
  5. There is no justification for the Frazier signing other than he is a left handed hitter. Also Frazier was in the lineup before Urais was pulled.
  6. You can laugh at me tomorrow. I am guessing Ramon Urias pulled because he will be traded to the Astros to be a replacement for Altuve until he is ready. I also think we have been looking to trade him so that we could make room for Jordan Westburg. Westburg is more than ready. Okay you can laugh at me now. I'm just saying. Go O's
  7. We have a young kid that we can build with in LF, CF, RF, 1B and soon to be catcher. I agree we are not bringing the young pitching up...yet.
  8. I can only watch MASN. I am from NC and the O's are blacked out on the other feeds.
  9. They had the video today. They could not get the audio to work from Baltimore. Rock was able to give some play by play but was breaking up most of the time. This should be their lesson, to loosen the purse strings and send the lowest paid announcing group on the road.
  10. I don't mind watching them lose as long as they are working the young kids in. I think they are doing the right thing on the rebuild.
  11. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE SEASON STARTS AND MASN HAS TECHNICAL PROBLEMS, like today? Rock will not be there to bail them out like he was today. How stupid is it that MASN is not sending their announcing crew on the road or the question is how cheap are they? Can they alienate there customers anymore? I had to vent.
  12. Thanks for the info.
  13. Is masn or masn 2 showing tonight's game? Every place I look says ytube. Anyone know what is going on?
  14. Thanks for the recommendation. We already have tickets for Bradenton to see the Pirates and the O's on March 19th. We will be going to that game then flying out that night. We fly in on the 15th and going to Port Charlotte to catch the O's play Tampa Bay. Then two home games on the 16th and 17th. Taking the 18th off maybe deep sea fishing and some poker.
  15. I have read that they have live video parimutuel wagering from tracks all over the country for horses and dogs. It was my understanding they they have a large poker room and yes I read they do have food. I still would like to know if it is in a safe area of the city, if anyone knows. Thanks
  16. Has anyone been to the dog track and casino? I know they don't actually race there any longer. Is it nice and safe?
  17. From what I have read the park opens on game day 2 hours before game time. Is that correct? If that is the case wouldn't teams be taking batting practice on the main field at Ed Smith stadium? If that is true then we would have to see what is happening on the back fields and it seems from what you have indicated that is not easy to see. Thanks for the advice to go to minor league camp before. We will definitely do that. Thanks for your help!
  18. Thank you for all the info. We are there March 15-20. I assume most of the minor league players will already be assigned to the minor league camps. Do you know where I can get the minor league camp address? Do you know how to get a minor league game schedule? Do they usually coincide with the major league games? When there is not a home game at the major league camp are visitors allowed to come and watch practices? Sorry for all of the questions but your responses have generated more questions. Thanks again

  20. My son and I are taking my 14 year old grandson to Oriole spring training in March for four days. This will be all of our first time at Orioles spring training. We are there for two home games and two road games. Our plan is to only go to one of the away games and take a break one day to do some other things in Sarasota. I have a number of questions. Let me just jump in. Are morning practices open to the public? If so, what time can we arrive to watch? I assume they practice everyday whether there is a home game or an away game. If that is incorrect please tell me. Is there an allotted time when players do most of their autograph signings or is catch as catch can? Are the minor league camps at the same location as the big teams? I know I am probably not asking a thousand things I should be asking, please feel free to give me your expert tips that will help on our trip. Thanks for any help you can give
