  1. They have 7 pitchers on the 60-day right now. I'd say they could use a durable guy to bolster their staff. But ultimately, who knows.
  2. The Dodgers are already reported to be interested in Soto. So if that's true, they clearly don't care about the luxury tax at all.
  3. I'm inferring based on his reported desire to play closer to home and his recent tweet re: the Dodgers winning the WS. I am also not buying that we can win him over by just having the highest offer. If we offer him 6/$200 and the Dodgers offer him 6/$190, why would he come here? He's in his 30s - he's going to want to be surrounded by the best of the best and have the highest chance of a ring. He isn't going to take the extra $10mil and come here to try and shepherd a young team again. He's going to want to be around Ohtani and Freeman and all these big hairy ballplayers and get that ring, man. We saw players flock to the Dodgers last off-season once they signed Ohtani. A little money one way or the other is not going to sway him. Just my opinion, of course.
  4. And also, they're a better team and he has a much higher chance of getting a ring there than he does here.
  5. He's going to be a Dodger. They will beat any offer, and he will get to play Arizona ST close to home. It's a no-brainer IMO.
  6. People mad at the Dodgers are actually mad at MLB. Why would we expect large market teams to go easy on us? There's nothing in it for them by doing that.
  7. The Dodgers are a smart organization who do great scouting, drafting, and analytics. And then they have an owner who just shrugs at the luxury tax and operates at 100% of his ability within the broken ass MLB system. You can't really hate on that. They do literally everything right and the owner goes as hard as possible. And then they aren't the Yankees, which is a huge bonus to their likeability.
  8. No good reason to not sign him, true. But he doesn't want to sign here. So we should focus our efforts elsewhere.
  9. Smells like desperation to discount the cutter usage post from @sportsfan8703 Doesn't matter though because we're not signing him anyway.
  10. You said things were never the same after he left the team last year. I argue things were the same.
  11. And we had a top 5 starting pitching staff for the year. So, it's typical bullpen volatility and lack of Bautista. No big Holt effect detected IMO, just a story wildcard has invented for himself.
  12. Hmm what changed from 2023 to 2024: No Bradish, no Bautista, no Means, no Wells. What are we talking about here? less than 10 thousandths of an average earned run?
  13. Hence the FWIW haha. (i.e.; not much)
