We can't trade Mateo now. But I think that's mostly because of what he's doing offensively, not defensively. If he had regressed to being more of a defensive specialist, as some of us had expected (raises hand), then I think trading him for pitching and replacing him with another solid defensive player (in Urias) would have been worth exploring. It's a moot point now, but they should defniitely be shopping Urias.
Mateo playing well may increase his odds of being traded, or it should at least.

Wow, thank you for the time you spent on this.

For once in my life we got the second half of a great player’s career.

He was good two years ago and mediocre last year. Committed money doesn’t seem like too much to get up in arms about. I’m not sure I hate it. I’m not sure I particularly like it.

What a great season this has been

It's possible to agree with that statement and still feel that the over the top hate for the guy on here is out of control and out of proportion.
You can't have a thread about anything without it being brought up that it is some soft of horrific travesty that he is playing so much. There are actually people on this thread who admit they can't fully enjoy one of the greatest turnaround seasons in MLB history because of Odor's mere presence on the field.
Start a thread about how good the crab pretzels are at OPACY and there's bound to be someone who says they would taste better if Odor wasn't in the lineup.
It would be a travesty if he cost us a playoff spot

Oye. I didn’t even know that Doc had passed. Woof. That stinks to hear. These people have been a part of my life for like 20 years. I miss them.
and yeah, thanks Frobby, I was thinking about this the other day when a scOtt song came on the radio.

The Walmart stuff is mainly junk though, at least for what I read. I say this if you are looking for a big hit.
It’s incredible the prices this stuff is bringing.
Wal-Mart wise, I recommend the Upper Deck series 2 hockey. I’ve been pulling bangers right and left. It’s a banner crop of Young Guns. Get after it.

I agree. Or an aging outfielder. I think I really like the idea of signing Michael Brantley to play first.
Offer Judge 200 mil for 4 years instead

Btw. I always have a good time in Baltimore. I do my best to stick up for the city down in these parts.

Post article huh. As a Virginia resident and lifetime Washington Post client to this day, I think it’s despicable that they abandoned Orioles coverage for Virginians once the ‘Spos came to DC.
/Rant over. Thanks Frobby.

Seems like a Jeff Kent profile. He wasn't supposed to be a great prospect, but his bat carried him and his defense was solid enough.
I don't think he'll be confused for Robbie Alomar, but being sure handed (if he is) helps.
Jeff Kent was almost as good as Alomar.

The inconsistent nature of the thinking on this site can be amazing to me.
People think it’s going to be simple to replace Lopez. People acknowledge how the wall is so helpful to pitching.
But yet people think we should pay 10M for a mediocre pitcher who is pretty easily replaceable?
I mean, i agree that the innings he pitches are important, even if they are subpar innings and I also agree that his salary means very little with our payroll.
However, at what point do people come to the conclusion that we should and deserve better? I feel that the mindset of the Os fan is so off on so many topics.
Some of that has to do with expectations from terrible ownership for a quarter century. But some of it is also just not used to making bigger moves to add top quality talent.
The Os need to add 2 legit ML starters in the offseason. Resources need to go towards that rather than guys that help you “get by”.
They absolutely need to add two higher end starters this off-season. I don’t think that precludes Lyles adding value to the team next year. He gives them a reasonable shot most times he starts.

With OFFNY gone, we need more random font guys on this board, so keep doing you, big dog! You have my axe.
Where did OFFNY go anyway? I missed that happening.

Tejada went 4-4 with a homer and Mora went 2 for 4 with 2. Bruce Chen gave up 3 over 6 and BJ Ryan picked up the save. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BAL/BAL200505010.shtml

If you’re going to be bad, be the worst. Great news
-
Yeah it’s nice to see him pitching fairly decently after being so bad. Hope he can close out the year on a high note

Thanks for this Roy. This really is a big deal. I don’t really post much, but I’ve been around here for close to 20 years at this point. Really going to miss that guy even though I never got a chance to meet him.
