As I watched Mateo jog to first with bat still in hand on what could have been an inside the park home run, I thought back to the days of the Kangaroo court. Frank Robinson was the perfect person to perform the duties of the judge (established veteran superstar with a hard nosed, no nonsense mentality). If we were to reinstate "the court" who would be the best candidate to hold the gavel and administer punishment?

If the playoffs started today, three AL East teams would make it. Neither NY nor Boston make the cut.

I just want the kind of organization that every year has reasonable expectations to compete for the WS.
No “windows of opportunity” and no Marlin, win and then blow it up.- 1

OK. Cowser got the office meeting even if it looked a bit rushed. Now we just need to see the uniform number to know if he's preferred prospect or not.

O’s have lost every game when they have worn these abominations. With one exception, June 10 when they barely beat a pathetic KC 3-2. If we know these uniforms are cursed, as superstitious as baseball players are, the team is painfully aware.

Can we dump these horrific jerseys already!?
Please. They obviously have bad karma.

I hear she loves Rock and Roll... Is it true?
I think “I Love Rock and Roll” should replace “Thank God I’m a Country Boy “.

I've listened to baseball on radio for 70 years. I can't listen to the current Oriole announcers. Maybe it's simply my opinion but they are the worst I've ever heard.
They need to focus more on the activity on the field, and stop talking about “Ribeye “.

Tell me more, apparently I've missed this. We always sit in Section 10, so we basically go from the south Eutaw gate straight to our seats and rarely venture away from our seats. I always know I should explore more, but if I'm there for a game I want to watch it in it's entirety, but I can always be bribed with easy access to beer.
In the lower concourse, there are many beer stores, where you grab a can or two, self checkout and are back in your seat before the next inning starts ️

I was at the game yesterday, honestly was expecting more than 34k. Looks like they were not selling seats in LF upper deck, can't wait for that area to get repurposed. Side note: The concessions on the lower level are amazing compared to the upper level. Upstairs are dreadful. My son was relentless in his demands for chicken tenders. I buckled, and stood in a 15 minute line only to get to the grill area and have them tell me 5 more minutes for tenders. So we waited, and waited, and then the food was blah. They were $14 too. Never again
I was at all three games this weekend. I love the grab your own beer shops.

I don’t care who gets the MVP. Let’s just lock them both up.

Isn't it Bourbon Street Martini?
That’s what I thought I heard.

I was at the game today. In addition to going 2 for 3 with 2 walks, Joey was part of 3 double plays. One of which he had to turn almost a complete 360 and he still made a perfect throw.

Pet Peeves
in Rants
2 hours ago, Frobby said:Pet peeve for me is when I’m driving and turn on the radio and they take five minutes to say what the score is. Red Barber used to keep an egg timer in his booth to remind him not to go more than three minutes before saying the score. You never know when someone has just tuned in.
None of the stuff mentioned in the OP bothers me much, though I do think the announcers get a bit carried away with the EV reports.
Or when the broadcasters banter about something that has no impact on the game, in the meantime three pitches have been thrown. With the pitch clock, I’m not sure I see the need for two radio announcers.

Mateo will feel the pressure from the youth movement. He will also benefit from the rule changes.

What do you think Hays' ceiling is?
If healthy, .300+ avg. .800+ OPS. 25 HR. And gold glove level defense.

MASN always seems turn up the crowd mic so loud that I have trouble hearing the announcers. Yesterday seemed worse than usual.

Lease signed at the All Star break. We pick up Scherzer or Degrom for the pennant run when the Mets and Rangers season turns unbearable. Degrom will be healthiest in years when we get him.
Now back to the regularly scheduled me.
Means comes back early and doesn’t miss a beat. Hall and GRod exceed expectations. Kremer and Bradish prove last season wasn’t a fluke, making Gibson expendable so we trade him for a handful of blue chip prospects.

Bold take! I guess in truth it's just kind of whatever. The Oriole Park part I always thought was unnecessary. Just call it Camden Yards, which is a name I like.
I always have and always will simply call it Camden Yards.

They should make the announcement in conjunction with a 5% ticket price decrease.

Kangaroo court
in Orioles Talk

This has gone off the rails. The intention of the post was to get an idea of who might emerge as a clubhouse leader on this young team. I merely used the Mateo example because it made me think of the kangaroo court of the Frank Robinson era.
