When exactly did we have more competitive balance?
When was it not an advantage to have more money?
Who were some of the consistently competitive teams in the 70's? Orioles, A's, Reds, Pirates and Royals. What do they have in common.

The more they expand the playoffs, the more they devalue the regular season. This will never happen, but I wish they'd do away with divisions, interleague play and go back to a balanced schedule. Three teams from each league would make the playoffs. First place would get a bye. Second place would host third place in a best of three series.

I know we have to do what's best for Our future success . But seeing Paul Blair, Mike Mussina, Brian Roberts and Zach Britton in pinstripes made me throw up a little in my mouth. If Cedric went to the dark side, I'm not sure I could keep it down.

If Franco isn't the opening day starter, whoever is at third will feel like a dead man walking.

Am I the only one who thinks it is pitiful that the O’s aren’t tv broadcasting any games this spring?
that’s pathetic!
I don't like it, but I understand why there is no TV. They didn't want to put out the resources to bring a crew and equipment to Florida. What I don't understand is why there is not 100% radio coverage. If the talent and equipment are there, what else are they going to do? Why not broadcast every game?

This isn't my story, but it's pretty cool.
In 1991 I got tranferred to Kansas City. Naturally I would attend all Orioles games at Kauffman (then it was Royals) Stadium. I would try and get there as early as I could to watch BP and congregate with other O's fan. I was talking to one guy who said he came from St. Louis and was a life long Oriole fan. He was about my age so I asked him why he wasn't a Cards fan and he said his dad had been a Browns fan and when they moved to B'more he continued to root for them and then raised his son properly.

1973. Living in Northern VA. I was 9, too young to ever have been a Senators fan. DC's channel 20 would carry O's games and the ones they didn't, I could pick up on Baltimore channel 2. How could you watch Chuck Thompson do an Oriole game and not become a fan? Ain't the beer cold! :beerchug1:

Frobby for commissioner. When the commissioner job was created, the job description was to act in "the best interests of baseball". Somewhere along the line, that has morphed into "make as much money as possible for the owners". Those are not necessarily the same thing. Since Selig, the commissioner has simply been a shill for the owners. No one in power cares about the quality of the game. Frobby would.
