Cano very may well just be regressing to what he's always been. It's not unprecedented that a 30-year-old journeyman reliever puts up a crazy good 35 innings or whatever then regresses to what he's always been.

The worst thing GRod did tonight was say Um 67 times in his post-game interview. Markakis even thought it was too much.

I agree with most of what you said. I'd probably quibble about doubting the mental toughness of GRod because he was laughing in the dugout. Gunnar was laughing a lot in the dugout despite screaming F-Bombs at the top of his lungs when he struck out every night early in the season. GRod is 23, baseball should be fun and as long as he's not smoking and joking on the mound, I'm okay. I don't think there is any evidence that sitting alone in the dugout with a cold silent stare equals mental toughness.

He's thrown like 50% strikes in both of his outings combined. He's never been a control pitcher and despite showing some progress lately with the walks, it's a part of his game. I'm not down on him, let him get accustomed to the atmosphere and he'll likely be a net gain, we do need another arm back there.

If a pitcher faces one batter to end an inning, he may be removed, but if he is brought back for a second inning, he must still face two more batters for a total of three.
