Eh, Whatever. Better than another year of Valaika at 2B I guess.

Sig doesn't strike me as the type who would prefer to be the big boss. Seems too smart to be the guy in charge .

Beautiful tribute. He will be missed around here for sure. It won't be the same.

Clearing Davis' spot on the 40man may have given him 1 more year to prove himself here.

The continued development and performance of the infield prospects is going to be key. 2023 could be a really fun year if everything pans out.

Very surprising. Good for him!
This will allow me to look back on his productive years more fondly.

Discussing Cabrera didn’t bother me at all.
Two nights ago, Kyle Funkhouser got Anthony Santander to ground out to 1B and Brown reported something like, “there’s a grounder to first base, and so Funkhouser wins the trisyllabic battle.” I was thinking, “the what battle?” Then it dawned on me what he was saying. I was pretty impressed that he pulled that out of his butt.
He's definitely entertaining. The Cabrera stuff didn't bother me either. We suck, they suck, the game is meaningless, it would be cool to see.

I don’t think I would move Scott for the equivalent of the Castro deal. I need more than a top 15-20 Prospect with some upside but not a lot.
Lefty's with his arm don't grow on trees. I think we could get at least 2 pieces for him that have value.

On the contrary, I thought he was an outstanding defender. The only problem we had in 2014 was we ran into the Royals when they were on a hot streak. I really don’t think we did anything wrong against the Royals, they just were getting all the breaks.
You may be right, I'm just going from my memory on what I thought of Lough.

I'd be happy with pretty much anything for Fry or Scott. It is nice to have a lefty in the pen that can bring high velocity and is a big strikeout guy, but with his control issues and the 3 batter minimum, it's really tough to watch Scott when he comes in and just doesn't have it that day.
I wouldn't just give either away, but if we got a legit prospect back and/or international money, I would be happy.

I never understood what people saw in Lough. He always seemed like a really good athlete that just didn't have very good baseball instincts.
Even on that play you posted, he takes a bad route/read at the beginning of it and makes up for it with his speed. Those 2014/2015 teams were one or 2 key players away from really competing for a World Series.

On the next O's playoff team, who do you predict will be the top 4 OF's on that team?
Good question. I'll go with Mullins, Hays, Stowers, and Rizer.

Hopefully he's the 4th or 5th outfielder on the next Orioles playoff team. Love what he brings to the table.

What an amazing thing to do!
Praying for you Weams.

Watched on milb.tv last night. That was fun! He seemed totally in control, even when there were guys on base.
Something else that also stood out to me was how mobile and smooth Adley looked behind the plate! He flubbed a throw on a CS attempt, but his presence behind the dish was a night and day difference to what I'm used to watching at the MLB level.

Like a lot of people, I've recently got back into the hobby. I was a big Ripken collector in the 90's as a kid, and then got back into it for a few years in the 2000's when my nephews were growing up.
I have a huge Ripken and Orioles collection. If anyone is interested in trading or buying let me know. I would love to trade some Orioles cards with fellow Hangouters!
-
Nice effort. The infield defense probably made him get an extra 2 or 3 outs.

This is an amazing step considering where we were internationally just a few years ago. Very exciting for the future!

Fantastic article here. Grayson with a very detailed description of how his changeup works and how he developed it. Talk about pitch design! https://blogs.fangraphs.com/grayson-rodriguez-on-his-changeup-which-isnt-a-screwball-or-is-it/
Great stuff here. Love the stuff about working with Holt one on one. This next wave of pitchers really seems to have bought in to what the player development staff has been asking of them. Can't wait to see what the results are once the seasons start.

Seemed like a nice guy, but man, I was not a fan oh his broadcasting or "interviews". Excited to see who they replace him with.

No way it was 100% financially motivated. It probably helps that whoever they hire back will likely make less (and they may only fill 1 spot), but there are so many other ways in a corporation as big as the Orioles to cut costs other than cutting ties with coaches that you want to keep.
O’s sign Jordan Lyles

I don't get this at all. Seems like 7M should buy a better pitcher for a year. Lyles is the kind of guy you sign right before spring training starts. Obviously they see something they think they can fix, I sure hope they're right.
