It's a little odd that you would poo-poo "homegrown talent" in a post talking about the Yankees dynasty of the 90s, which was so successful due in large part to...homegrown talent.
Jeter, Posada, Rivera, Petitte, Williams, etc.
Not their homegrown pitchers. They had one homegrown pitcher and they acquired the rest through free agency and trades.

Remember when Bautista faced him in Toronto.
That had to happen, for this to happen. Watching our Mountain grow up.

You do realize I'm saying that the 0-1 pitch is when it was good to run, not the 0-2.
0-1 isn’t a good pitch to run either. The pitcher doesn’t have to throw a strike and can just throw a fastball outside, a pitch out.

Probably should have taken the pitch on 0-1 with Mateo's jump. Yeah it'd of been 0-2 count but you'd have 2 chances to get him in. The 0-2 steal attempt wasn't a good jump and Mateo probably should have stayed put.
It’s a pitch out pitch, stupid as hell to run there.

Brett Phillips ruined that one for Mateo.
Mateo ran on a 0-2 pitch. How dumb is that?

5 ground balls and turned them into one out.
Need a real first baseman, a real 3rd baseman.

I swear every time this thread gets created it ends poorly and Hays gets hurt
It’s going well but Hays is hurt.

I use my MLBTV daily. Key moments in games , like seeing Mancini at the plate with base’s loaded 2 outs. Cut right in and watch the at bat.
I check all the games that matter to the O’s, but especially Yankees, Boston and Tampa Bay.

Martin Perez would check all the boxes. Free agent after this year,31 yo. Probably a 3 year deal for 40-50million gets it done.

I'm sure you can transition one to catcher. I've heard how easy it is.
Jorge Posada says hey.

We’ve had multiple chances to score more runs, haven’t got it done.

My cousin is a huge Nats fan and he's been on meltdown for the last two weeks (actually year if you count Trea and Max). He's having a freaking aneurysm today lol. Tried explaining this is probably for the better long term but that just gets him even more worked up loool.
Always better to early than to late.
They are setting themselves up for a quick rebuild.

The Nats are doing their rebuilding right. Ripping the bandage off and seriously restocking with young talent.

Ugh. I jinxed it.
I don’t get why he wouldn’t not throw fastballs until they proved they could hit it.
There’s a lesson there.

6 straight 3-2 counts!

If you’re going to pitch him away, why shift?

This isn’t going well

Got away with one right there

I'm pretty sure he can reject the option, and they can offer the qualifying offer, which he can likewise reject, and become a FA, eligible for draft compensation upon signing with another team.
There just no way Trey would reject a Qualifiying Offer.
20million for 1 year? Trey’s agent would need to be decertified.

Akin never pitched well this year with extended rest. Can’t remember last time he pitched.

Hung a curveball . Can’t keep making these mistakes in the majors.

That’s how you attack Judge. Got to command low in the zone.

Our guys just miss their spots to often.

Going by how huge Umps call the strike zone against Judge* it shouldn't be hard to hit stuff on the edges.
*Yea he's a Yankee but let's be honest, he gets hosed on balls/strikes most of the time.
It would be nice if our pitchers wouldn’t just throw “get over” pitches in hitter counts.

I was thinking about Phillips roster spot and it seems we are prioritizing defense over everything else.
Really it refreshing after all the bad defensive teams we have been fielding.
