  1. He already fills the lead off position that was claimed by absolutely no one so far.
  2. But he grades out positively this year in Right Field, which you didn't happen to mention.
  3. And people will stop complaining about Manny batting lead off.
  4. For his career, including this year, he has been very good in right field, which is where I assume he's going.
  5. He looks good at the top of the order, that's for sure. I don't know that he's an upgrade considering he's been basically average for his entire career and is suddenly killing the baseball. I saw someone mention that his defense has been poor this year. And of course, being a rental makes this a complete head scratcher... what we're ultimately doing is replacing Parmalee with Chris Davis and replacing Davis in the OF with Parra. That doesn't seem to be the kind of move I'd make if I was serious about improving the lineup to win a title. On the other side, I like Zach Davies, but he was always pitching way ahead of where everyone thought he should be. I don't know if it's his height or what, but he was defying odds. Was it all going to come crashing down? Who knows. I guess we'll find out shortly.
  6. What's incredible is that this morning three teams in the AL East had 40+ wins and we weren't one of them. Now we're in first.
  7. This is a silly thing but I just noticed we drafted Chi Chi Gonzalez (he of 2 scoreless 7IP+ starts for the Rangers) in 2010. It's a shame we didn't sign him. Same with Russell Wilson in 2007!
  8. I just heard about that, huh. 18yo SS in A-ball... Adrian Marin would be the closest thing to that.
  9. If we were Detroit? Smyly is a young dude and we don't really have a comparable. Gonzo and Markakis for Price, probably.
  10. No, Nick Franklin (SEA) and Drew Smyly (DET) went to Tampa, and Austin Jackson (DET) went to Seattle.
  11. K-Rod is the number one reliever/closer in baseball.
  12. Good call: Somerset Patriots Kyler Newby Adam Donachie Robbie Widlansky Luis Montanez Miguel Abreu Nate Spears York Revolution Mark Hendrickson Rommie Lewis Chad Tracy (not that one, the one we signed in ST) Steve Bumbry Sugarland Skeeters David Pauley Long Island Ducks Jeremy Accardo Lew Ford Southern MD Blue Crabs Brian Burres Camden Riversharks Chris Widger (pitching coach) Bridgeport Bluefish Julio Rodriguez Those were some depressing rosters to read... man.

  14. I'm gonna see if I can get the three leagues under AAA up here too. There won't be as many players, but there are a few.
  15. "Practice Baseball"? I mean, I get that AAA is sub-par baseball, it's still pro baseball though. I like to look back at players we gave up on to see where they are now. Looking at what we've moved on from, we are pretty good at avoiding seller's remorse.
  16. Just some others to consider: Alfredo Simon (Reds) Jeremy Guthrie (Royals) Bruce Chen (Royals) Pat Neshek (Cardinals) Matt Albers (Astros) Koji Uehara (Red Sox) LaTroy Hawkins (Rockies) Scott Rice (Mets) Daniel McCutchen (Rangers) Erik Bedard (Rays) Pedro Beato (Braves) David Hernandez (Diamondbacks) (Out for Season) Jake Arrieta (Cubs) (On DL) Pedro Florimon (Twins) Justin Turner (Dodgers) Omar Quintanilla (Mets) I did the last three posts by memory and by hand, so if I missed someone please let me know. My brain can only be so full of useless baseball stats of players that don't matter anymore.

  19. Simon and Albers both went on to be pretty successful relievers after leaving the O's.
