  1. Here's where Baltimore's former draft picks are hanging out; italics indicate they aren't on a 40-man roster (AAA, DL, or FA are the other options here): (1) J. Johnson 5'01 - LAA (9) N. Markakis 1'03 - ATL (45) P. Florimon, Jr. DOM'04 - PHI (53) B. Snyder 1'05 - FA (1) D. Hernandez 16'05 - CIN (1) P. Beato 1'06 - PHI (AAA) (1) Z. Britton 3'06 - NYY (2) M. Wieters 1'07 - WAS (1) J. 2. I’d wager that Mountcastle isn’t going to play in Baltimore next year outside of a September call up. He’s not ready.
  3. The rest of your post doesn’t read that way.
  4. The Orioles are a billion dollar enterprise. You’re “just saying” but honestly if this franchise wants to cry poor they can blame years of mismanagement. Here you are to blame the fans. You should be ashamed. If not for Stockholm Syndrome people in Baltimore wouldn’t put up with this garbage.
  5. No one was heartbroken then because Arrieta was struggling. The consensus was “we did what we could, change of scenery, maybe he’s not that great”. It wasn’t until after that it came out that they had mucked about with his pitches and the Cubs immediately had a great pitcher on their hands that people started blaming the developmental squad. All the posters here knew Arrieta had the stuff to be great. He was top prospect for us. how is that not different if Gausman goes onto great things? Theyd have a better defense if it wasn’t just Mussina and Bedard in the last 25 years.
  6. Sorry pal. That’s not the reason anyone would be petrified. They’re petrified because the Orioles couldn’t get either to work here. It speaks to the development strategy of this ballclub.
  7. The whole thing reminds me Arrieta. A hugely talented pitcher that the Orioles can’t squeeze anything out of.
  8. I dunno about stiff drinks, but Davis could convince me that Amaretto High Life's are okay.
  9. Davis knows by virtue of Allen Craig that if he accepts a demotion he’s never coming back to the majors. Whether it’s worth the embarrassment, I’ve no idea. But to accept a demotion means that he’s got to ride the bus to and from Norfolk everyday until he retires.
  10. Why don’t you watch the Orioles? You’ll think this thread is riveting by comparison.
  11. ... so Chris Davis is going to turn it around?
  12. Now at 220PA, the OPS has dipped to .464. He is now at 15th worst for anyone with 220PA. He is now worse than Mario Mendoza’s 1979 season and is tied with Nick Hundley’s 2012 with the Padres. It has to end!
  13. If you can believe it, Chris Davis' K rate is better this year compared to last year. Last year's 37.2% is the worst among qualified batters all time. This year's 35.8% is fourth.
  14. Just an update: Davis is now at 212 PAs, so we can move the minimum PA count to 210. His OPS also slid ten points to .473. That puts him at a two way tie for 22nd worst OPS in a season for the last 50 years. 15,126 unique seasons qualify for these parameters. He is 241st/29885 all time.
  15. Things Ambien doesn’t make you do: -be racist -hit a baseball
  16. Chris Davis' money has nothing to do with Manny Machado leaving the team.
  17. With three more plate appearances last night, Chris Davis crosses over the 200PA threshold. He's up from .480 to .483, but moves from 40th to 39th lowest OPS by any player with 200PA in the last 50 years. Some other notable Oriole performances: Mark Belanger's 1972 season is 35th (.482) Rick Dempsey's first year joining the Orioles in 1976 is 25th (.466) Juan Bell's 1991 as a utility infielder for the O's is 12th (.450) Angels top prospect (and former Oriole farmhand) Brandon Wood's 2010 with the Angels is the absolute worst; .382 OPS over 243 PAs.
  18. There’s two players in the bottom 50 that hit 400PA; one is Mario Mendoza. And yes, Chris Davis has the worst OPS for a 1B in that span.
  19. Since 1969 (50 years), minimum 190PA, Davis has the 40th lowest OPS. There are 16,000 individual seasons on this list. Think about that.
  20. I actually meant the Horse Racing triple crown. Flaherty has a better shot at that I think.
  21. The Braves cut Bautista, so there’s a window of opportunity here for Flash to attain the Triple Crown.
