I went to Reddit r/orioles. It's free. Obviously it's not as good as the hangout message boards but maybe if enough people migrate there, it could be decent.

His 4-year Seattle deal wasn't that long. But 4 years at age 34 is considered long.

Elrod Hendricks, who has to be one of the all-time fan friendliest Orioles, would always BS with the fans in the centerfield seats at Camden Yards when he was the bullpen coach. We talked with him quite a few times when we sat out there. One time, Ellie was by the fence, and I saw Jeff Tackett (the backup catcher in those days) warming somebody up in the pen. Tackett had recently made an appearance in the movie "Dave," where Kevin Kline played a presidential look alike who has to pretend to be the president in some kind of emergency. Kline throws out the first pitch to Tackett in one scene.
I told Elrod that Jeff Tackett should have gotten the best supporting actor award for being in "Dave" because I actually believed he was a major league catcher. Well Elrod thought this was hilarious and said, "Wait a minute." Then he went and got Tackett to come over and said, "Tell him what you just told me."
I didn't have the heart to repeat my joke to Tackett. He barely was a major league catcher and wasn't long for the bigs. I just told him he was great in "Dave." Elrod was mock-pissed and said, "Aw man, that's not what you said before," laughing the whole time.
Elrod was a real good guy.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but Scott Garceau, while being plenty of affable, seems a little short on the insight and long on the cliche.

I actually kind of liked watching the Nats this year and hope they beat whomever they play in the World Series. Scherzer and Rendon are likable guys and any baseball fan has got to enjoy watching those two go about their business.

Anybody notice that Luke's top choice for the last Rule 5 draft, Josh Van Meter, is on fire?
In his last 3 games he's gone 8-for-11 with a HR in each game to raise his season slash line to .313/.403/.552/.955.
This after slashing .328/.449/.629/1.097 in Louisville before his May call-up.
Good call, Luke. 29 MLB teams passed on this guy.

Before last season, the only thing close to a tear down was 2000. That wasn't a total rebuild because we hung on to Mussina (for some odd reason considering the final outcome) and Cal and Albert Belle.
That one could have worked, but you've got to do better than Charles Johnson, B.J. Surhoff, Mike Bordick, Will Clark, Harold Baines, and Mike Timlin for Melvin Mora.

Ah, not to beat a dead horse, but I can't help myself. Perhaps, Ruiz misread Wojo's game score as 94 instead of 84?
Jim Palmer had 12 starts with a game score higher than 84 from 1973 to 1976.

Yeah, that's weird because Wojciechowski's game log has yesterday's outing as a game score of 84.
That was a great performance, but 9th all time while only going 7 1/3 just doesn't sound right to me.

Don't know much about Loverro except that he wrote a book called Orioles Magic that I bought at the library's clearance sale for a buck. I'm not sure it was worth a dollar. It was poorly written with a very clunky prose style and contained scant insight.
I haven't really sought out any of his writing since.
