Good for him.  Things looked real bad early on in 2019 but improved for sure when we turned over a lot of personnel.

I'm not unhappy with this news, but I would prefer a headline saying we are making Greg Roman the highest paid OC for many years.

But why? He's showed you two years in a row that he has no in-game adjustments whatsoever. Has Red Thor (Hayden Hurst) who can catch and runs pretty fast, yet doesn't find a way to get him involved in the gameplan. That's the last Ravens coach I'd want to get an multiple year extension unless he vastly improves his gameplans. Sure it looks crazy that I'm saying this amist an historic offensive season, but let's not forget it completely crumbles under adversity. Showed up pretty well in our two losses. (And playoff game of 2018 when he was "Run coordinator"). With that said though, I'm ecstatic about the Wink extension. Well deserved with make-shift pass rushers and linebackers. Wasn't looking too good with Jefferson back there and Chuck came in and helped save the season.

No, they'd be choosing their opponents in the first round. The top division winner (#1 seed) would get a bye, as you said. The second best division winner (#2 seed) would choose its wild card opponent first (choosing from among the #5, #6, and #7 seeds). Then the third best division winner (#3 seed) would choose its wild card opponent. Then the top wild card team (the #4 seed) would play whichever wild card team is left over.

    Either way, it's stupid.

Super stupid. But it will be funny to see a team handpick their opponent and lose. The Cowboys did that to the Ravens to close out their old stadium and got dealt with. But I'm not a fan of this proposed playoff goofiness.

  3. 2012 will forever hold a special place in my heart. It hold special value because it was completely unexpected. A friend and myself was having a conversation about the last game of 2011 when Andino hit that game-winner to eliminate the Redsox. We were like "I wish this celebration was for us going to the playoffs or World Series instead of this meaningless win". And then bam... 2012 happened. What a ride!

    2014 just breaks my heart.

  4. We deserve a championship. I'm still angry about 2015 with Duquette committing sporting treason and trying to sell the world on Travis Synder. So to right the wrongs of yesteryear, I wanna hear Joe Buck joyfully yelling "And the Baltimore Orioles are champions again" ! Then hearing Orioles magic playing over the loud speaker.

I seent it in mah dreamz!

I’ve been fortunate to see the Orioles win three World Series, and even though it’s been 36 years, I still take great pride and solace in those wins.

But one thing the O’s haven’t ever done is win a World Series or a playoff series that came down to a rubber game.   They lost two WS Game 7’s to the Pirates,  and Game 5 of two five-game playoff series to the A’s and the Yankees.     All the postseason series they ever won never got down to a nailbiter situation.    Not that I didn’t enjoy those wins, but there’s just something about winning with everything on the line in one game that is sort of the ultimate satisfaction.

I’m pretty jealous of the Nats fans tonight.    I’ve never felt quite what they’re feeling as an Orioles fan.

I'm personally jealous of this! Screw them Nationals. (Congrats though) I don't take sports THAT serious, but I'd probably cry if I ever saw the Orioles win a World Series. Nothing that I've ever seen in person compared to the playoff series against the Yankees in 2012. Even though Jim Johnson blew it in the 9th, that was by far one of the best Orioles experiences I've ever had down at the park. Could only imagine what it would feel like with a World Series win in Baltimore. The feels...

  6. I'm still salty about the Hess game. Orioles were playing for history in a season full of nothing. Still don't understand what it was going to hurt. We won't remember how many games we loss 40-2, but in a season full of ups and downs, we would have remembered that surgical no-hitter robbed from us on 4/1.

  7. At this point do anyone believe the Orioles are gonna purse another appeal? Looks like it would be wasted money given both outcomes. I won't pretend to know what's going on with the lawyer jargon, but sounds like the Orioles are getting mixture of playing themselves and getting finessed.

If I recall correctly (which I very well may not), Chris Davis was given an exemption to take Adderall for one season.

The following season, MLB DID NOT approve that same drug for that same player (Chris Davis, Adderil.) Davis chose to continue using the drug anyway, which led to his 25-game suspension later that season.

If that is correct, I have no idea why MLB would make an exemption of a specific drug for a player one year, and then change that stipulation the next.

If that is not correct, please disregard this post.

Do you know what he's currently taking now? And if he was put back on Adderall if not already on it, will it help him reclaim his once short greatness?

The money exploded in the 70s and 80s, as teams realized they had to have cash to afford free agents and cable happened at the same time.  There has been one major league team move since the money went crazy.  One.  And they played in a French-speaking province that MLB couldn't figure out a way to blackmail into building them a free Mallpark to replace a terrible old crumbling multipurpose half-dome.

It would be astonishing if MLB was so craven as to allow Camden Yards to sit vacant so Nashville or Las Vegas can try to start something the Orioles began 137 years ago.

With the arrogance of Manfred and MLB, it wouldn't surprise me if they attempted such a thing. While I'm more inclined to believe the O's aren't going anywhere, I wouldn't be shocked whatsoever if they did.

  10. Man... this is all a business. If it makes business sense, the Orioles will be outta here on the first thing smoking. While I want to believe that the rich history of the Orioles will forever stay in Baltimore, the times have changed but the money game hasn't. I wouldn't be surprised if they stay or go. And all this "We're not going anywhere" is nothing more than coach speak. The Front Office isn't going to show their cards IF something is really in the workings. I just pray nothing is in the works because I love my O's.

  11. The Baltimore Colts incident was 3 years before I was born. Till this day, I can still hear the salt in the voices of those old Colt fans. I can't imagine my salt level if the Orioles were to leave Baltimore. I would probably be done with baseball altogether. Probably throw hands with Manfred because he's a part of the reason with this MASN hostage situation.

It wasn't a review. It was a really late call by the umpire and Hyde was tossed for arguing IIRC. He was definitely out of the baseline. Wasn't Martin called out earlier in this game for running outside the baseline to avoid a tag at second base?

Oh, ok that makes sense. I was at the game and everyone was saying it was reviewed.  Seemed like it was with how long it was taking, but good to know! Thanks! Yeah, Hyde was tossed.
