Honestly I just wonder how you replace the production. Is he worth 4/57....no. Would he have been worth say 3/45 to this team? I think so. Looking at it from that perspective its a 10-12 million overpay. If you cant find a way to replace his production, I think your putting your ability to win the division and make a WS run in serious peril. If those things matter to you then why would anyone care if Pete valued them at 10-12 million spread out over 4 years? The idea that the Orioles minus Nelson Cruz are not any worse than they were last year is silly. We have taken a step back, the idea is to push forward. If we are trying to be the cutest most cost efficient team ever then I guess we just scored a coup, if we are trying to capitalize on a narrow window in which teams have to win championships, I think seeing this as anything but a negative is just finding a way to rationalize the decision.

That play was just plain sick...the fact he made it all is amazing, the fact that it was not even remotely close is absurd (yea Albert is no speedster but come on). There are maybe a couple guys who could get that out, I cant think of anyone else who could get the out and have it not even be close. That's the kind of play that I watch baseball to see....kudos Manny

I really do not think he went anywhere in the first place. As disappointing as the bat incident was, I think it was an important development milestone in his career and I for one am damn proud of the kid. He did not dwell in it but he did not ignore it. He looked for the lessons, applied them and has moved forward. That's about all you can ask of any human being who meets adversity or makes a mistake. It is also a key indicator of character which in turn is a key indicator of success. Proud of ya Manny keep on keeping on.

Yea me to. Last year I thought they had the kinda team that could do what they are doing this year. Going into this season I really thought they could improve some but they were the team I felt was least likely to win the division. I still think they do not have enough pitching to run away with the division. They will come back to earth some. It will also be interesting to see how healthy they stay.

Still think they are dangerous. Tanaka is legit. They may not have much to offer in a trade but they can certainly afford to absorb salary so they really don't have to have all that much to acquire talent that can at least help. I hate the MFY...but I think the longer they hang around the more dangerous they are. Toronto could be dangerous also especially if they can get a decent SP
