No chance that Hyde let's Bradish throw more than 5 innings Sunday.  They'll want him fresh for the 1st playoff game.

That's plenty, keeps him sharp while not overworking him.

187 innings eaten.   That’s the third highest total of Gibson’s career.  He’s also tied his career high in starts at 32.  I’d assume he will make one more this weekend, as he’d still be well rested for the playoffs, assuming he’s on the roster.

Maybe on the playoff roster, but not in the rotation?

That's why bullpen sessions and simulated games exist.  They'll give him a chance to rest while also keep him stretched out.

Maybe, but everyone knows BP sessions are not the same. It would be ideal to get him into the last game, maybe only for an abbreviated five IP. He'll still get the rest he needs.

So when we complained that Elias didn't get TOR pitching in the offseason, do we now need to curve that grade?  Bradish is what we wanted.

Exactly right. However, I really don't think he knew what he had in Bradish. He was counting on Rodriguez becoming the ace. That is arguably questionable if you don't know what you have in GrayRod, but he was probably more likely the guy they saw as a true ace, probably still is-eventually. The stuff is better, but not by a whole lot. The slider Bradish throws is filthy. And when he's touching 96-97 with command he is every bit an ace. The future is looking bright with both of them and right now, Bradish is leading the way.

Brooks was my favorite growing up and will always be in my heart. RIP Mr. Hoover.

Ditto. Him, Frank, Palmer, Paul Blair and of course Earl were the reasons I became an Orioles fan.

     Brooks was a class act.

I really think it’ll depend on who they draw. If it’s the Jays, it’d be hard to argue with Gibson’s body of work this season against the Jays (2.14 ERA over 21 innings) although Bradish was equally impressive with his 2.57 ERA over 14 innings.

Had he not ran into some trouble these last few starts a case could even be made for Kremer’s 1.56 ERA over 17 1/3 IP against the Jays this year.

if it’s the Jays I imagine they’ll go Bradish, Gibson, Kremer though I could see a case for GrayRod because he’s been so good the second half. Hell, even Meansy could get a look.

There’s no way Rodriguez is left out. Let me clarify that statement. He’ll be one of the first three.

I think they're going to give him a real shot to fail as a starter next year. I don't mean he's going to fail, but I think they plan to keep him as a starter.

I know exactly what you mean and I agree. It’s his job to lose and if it doesn’t work it looks like he can be of value in the bullpen.

  8. He looked very good today and he’s only had one bad inning since coming back up.

I wonder if they stretch him out come springtime. His CH and slider look better to me and he’s improved command.

I’m fine with him in the bullpen, but I do think he could still be a starter. He certainly looks better like a better option than either Lopez or Fujinami for the last week.

Growing up in Rochester I didn't get the Sun but followed the O's, my favorite team, having seen many of the team coming through the Rochester Red Wings.  Of course, back then, there was that annual O's visit that you could not miss.

I forgot the West Coast games.  They rarely made it to the paper at all. I was annoyed with only the first few innings being in there but never remember it being some big tragic situation as I could imagine a few minutes would be these days, but I digress.

Baseball probably helped me more with math than many classes. My skills from spending hours with stats still serve me well decades later.

    Thanks for sharing!

My dad is from Rochester and that’s how me and my brothers started following the Orioles. The ‘70 series against the Reds is etched in my memory. In those days there World Series was played at day time and pops let me miss school to watch a game. He wrote a note for me to take to the nuns the next day explaining I needed to experience the great American cultural pastime of baseball. Needless to say, they weren’t having any.
