Bottom of the 9th pending, but if Hyde doesn’t use Kimbrel yesterday, it’s likely the Reds don’t score a single run this series. Incredible.
Reds almost stole one yesterday due to Kimbrel's yips. They had no business but being swept in this series.

If these numbers were before his call-up no one would make much of them.
Sure, but they are after. Before, he was raking at AAA.

The run differential thanks the salami.

6/30 (.200), 9 walks, 9 Ks.
Let's hope his too-early call-up won't have long-term repercussions for his development.

A tater special to close the curtain!

If this pitching the Orioles have been getting the past 10 days is real and not a mirage for playing against weak-hitting teams, this team will be hard to stop.
-
It could be adventurous to keep Kremer against the top of the order here, with his blister problems and trouble in the previous inning.

Random thought occurred to me, most of NYY fans are either Jets or Giants fans, and most Steeler fans are Pirate fans. Is the contingent of NYY/Steeler fans sizeable? I would say that almost all are front-runners without connection to either NY or Pittsburgh. I would hate to meet these people, for many reasons...

Danger, Will Robinson.

I agree with this. He's been a whipping boy at times.
He was pretty bad at the plate at stretches last year, and his arm was not great either. Glad he has turned it around big time this year, so far.

If I remember correctly the home team makes the decision before the game starts and the Umps make it once the game is underway.
Those MFY-bought umps again.

MFY game called after 8 innings due to rain. Who makes these decisions, again?

He does. I noticed it like the 5th inning against the Yankees.
It's surprising that professional pitchers can still have blisters. Unless they are working on a new pitch.

Kimbrel is fine. Just use him every 3 days or so. No back to backs.
Put the players in the best situations to be successful.
CK with rest? Good
CK back to back? No good.
Problem is he's going to start to pout if he's not getting the save opportunities. He's obsessed with the all-time save list. Getting Kimbrel may have looked good at the time but it was a bad decision by Elias. It was uncharacteristic and bad. He is no longer an every-day closer, he's expensive, and he will probably create clubhouse problems if he's demoted.

Uli2001, meet Brandon Hyde. I don't think there's any other way to explain it.
Unbelievable. We need the spirit of 66 back!

Jury's still out on that. Even if the 'pen holds this one, Hyde could end up screwing himself tomorrow if Means has a short outing.
I'm done with Hyde. Unfortunately though I don't see any other potential manager doing anything differently.
It's the new unwritten rule in baseball. If the manager hasn't come out of the dugout by the eight inning, he gets pied in the face.

Why did they take Jamie Irvin out with 72 pitches?

Sometimes the pop ups in play Santander hits I wonder how the heck did he hit that fair.
Once I saw Manny Ramirez hit a pop up in OPACY that cleared the stands by a good margin. Or at least appeared to.
-
Santander must put in some work in the batting cage. He is swinging under everything.
-
Wow, pop out. I did not see that coming.

There you have your crooked number on the scoreboard. Even if it happens only once or twice a game (and all other innings are scoreless), it's still very satisfying.

Yes but will it be in a loss??
CGL! It's a unicorn.

Irvin is pitching like Jamie Moyer out there. Good Moyer.

Good they had this hiccup at the end, to keep them from reading their own press clippings too much in the off-day.
