  1. I like most of the players on the Orioles (except the ones who don't speak English) and I grew up watching the team in the late 60's. early '70s. However, I can't support a team that has an owner who donates to the politicians this guy does. Most of you hate my posts anyway, so you should be happy that I am leaving... goodbye.
  2. Elias trades for Eflin, Rogers (who got destroyed by Cleveland), Soto, and Dominguez; all have an ERA over 4. Rogers is now 2-10 with an ERA of 4.76. Austin Slater is hitting under .200, Jiménez is hitting .239 and he can only DH because he is a hack in the field...shouldn't even be allowed to wear a glove. For these guys, he gave up INF/OF Mac Horvath, RHP Jackson Baumeister, OF Matthew Etzel, INF/OF Connor Norby, OF Kyle Stowers, OF Austin Hays, RHP Seth Johnson, LHP Trey McGough. For those eight players, and a couple of useless veterans such as OF Mullins, RHP Kremer, LHP Perez, INF Urias, INF Mateo, along with highly rated prospects C/1B Basallo, and OF Bradfield (that is 15 players), they could have acquired quality players (take your pick) such as LHP Tarik Skubal, LHP Garrett Crochet, LHP Tanner Scott, RHP Erick Fedde, OF Tommy Pham, RHP Jack Flaherty. I'd like to think that they could have picked up five out of this group and greatly enhanced the team. As it is, they took a step backward acquiring not one solid player. Just read the grades from the sportswriters (not the uneducated fans) on these deals and it bears out that Elias was burned. The Orioles had a chance to make the team a World Series powerhouse, instead, they were fleeced.
  3. Option C. Santander walking would save plenty of money. Paying him tens of millions just to hit home runs is ridiculous. His .248 AVG and.314 OBP are weak and he was an "all-star"? Santander is a lifetime .248 hitter. Is that worth $20 million/year? I think not... Sign Burnes to an extension or it becomes a wasted trade (Elias has proved he has mastered that negative aspect).
  4. You're confused? I only grouped the players into ones I felt were expendable. Are you going to tell me anyone I mentioned on the MLB roster is worth keeping? As for Basallo, who is a C/1B, why do we need him with Rutschman behind the plate and Mayo available for 1B, unless he gets traded which would be a horrible mistake. (Mountcastle is expendable as well, what with his poor OBP)
  5. B for Orioles, A for Rays. The Orioles gave up too much for a pitcher with a plus 4.00 ERA. The Hays trade was awful; a decent outfielder for two bums. On the subject of trades, if the O's surrender Holliday, Kjerstad, or Mayo for anyone, they are out of their minds. Trade Basallo and/or Bradfield instead. Of the MLB roster, get rid of Mullins, Urias, Mateo, Pache, and Perez, if anyone takes them.
