Farewell to Ryan McKenna, claimed on waivers by the Giants after being DFA'd the other day. We all have followed his career since his great 2018 season at Frederick. Ryan Mountcastle, Cedric Mullins, and Nick Vespi are now the three remaining members of the Orioles 2015 draft class still in the organization.

Pre game decisions to start, or not, are at the home team's discretion. Once the game starts it's in the hands of the umpire crew chief. I'm sure they didn't start because no one wants to start, have a delay, and then not want to bring back the starting pitcher after the delay, because he has too much downtime, and use 7 innings of relief. So they err on the side of waiting based on the forecast. That's an Oriole decision but I'll bet the Mariners were happy with it too. I guess they put pitcher health above the desires of the fans. Given the $ involved, I guess that decision makes sense on a cost/benefit basis. If you are sitting there in a non-rain situation not watching baseball like Denise, I can see how that would be annoying.

Tonight's a great example. John Means: 6 innings, 6 hits, 0 walks for the 3rd straight game, 2 runs, one of which was because Gunnar couldn't make a play. Retired 10 in a row at one point. But there are a lot more negative comments than positive ones about his pitching in the game thread.

Seems like Suarez would be better suited for that role. Hard throwing righty following the lefty, coming in against the RH heavy lineup.

Weather very iffy for the Saturday game. Guess if it was rained out they would do a Sunday doubleheader even though it's a getaway day for both teams. Hays on the bench tonight... not surprising since it's a righthanded pitcher but does make one wonder if his calf is still bothering him. Santander DHing and O'Hearn in right seems to indicate that Anthony's knee is still tender and maybe not up to running around in the outfield for 9 innings. Luis Urias in the lineup today, his brother Ramon is not.
