  1. The Yankees are on a run for sure, but they will cool down. They are no where near as good as their record. They've been beating up on everyone not the AL East.
  2. He's got his good stuff and command going for sure, but this offense is not helping any with their hackothan ways.
  3. Nope, too much to ask apparently. This team's approach this year has led to more HRs, but less BBs, which means when they have a good pitcher on his game, they don't adjust and try and work counts, they go up there hacking away. Not a fan of these new hitting coaches honestly. It's just such a drastic change from the way these guys were taught coming up. We were supposed to have a lineup full of guys who work counts and attack pitches they can do damage on. Instead we have a bunch of Ryan Mountcastle's.
  4. Mountcastle in one of his cold spells of late going 1-for his last-20 and slashing .177/ .177/.353/.529 over his last 68 PAs.
  5. If that's the case, then that is not smart in this situation. He has a very poor throwing catcher. He should have been going on the 1st or 2nd pitch and get in scoring position and then allow the hitter to not have to worry about the runner going.
  6. Another great start at the plate foe the new '27 Yankees.
  7. I think he screwed over Mateo too who took pitches for his to go on.
  8. What in the world is wrong with Cedric? Steal....
  9. It figures the first inning after a post about the Orioles not hitting into DPs was posted, they hit into a DP.
  10. I don't consider it a hit until they make the majors. Still a long way to go for Creed.
  11. I'd really prefer a high risk/high reward high school player if possible this late in the draft. Not Elias' M.O., but he hit on Gunnar and Hernaiz to a lesser extent.
  12. The funny part is the laugh emoji actually gives the person + rep!
  13. It's not even close. Basallo has a plus arm and his accuracy has always been better.
  14. He has really good stuff so teams will keep giving him chances. But he's just so inconsistent that it's tough to put him in anything but mop up duties and be able to trust him.
  15. I'm going through the same thing, but after 34 years. I get it and no worries whatsoever.
  16. No, I didn't think you were, just saying I try not engage or treat anyone differently over whether they've paid or not. Either way, I do appreciate your and and others support. It does help keep the site going.
  17. I've seen two different sliders/cutters when looking at the statcast data. He threw 12 yesterday and two of them look more like sweepers with more velocity. He did throw one 12-6 curveball (2933 spin rate) that got a whiff. I'd seen that occasionally in the past but he didn't throw it very much. He should throw it more though. At 86 MPH and with 50 inch vertical drop, that would be a plus curveball for sure. Only 6 MLB pitchers average more than 86.3 MPH on their curveballs with the best vertical drop of them being 46,2 (Joe Kelley). His cutters and fastball both got a 50% whiff rate. Impressive stuff.

  19. Mayo's issues on defense is mostly throwing accuracy. He moves well enough and his are not bad, but his throwing can be a bit of an adventure at times. We all know he has plus-plus arm strength, but making that accurate throw to second base to to start a double play or get a force play or just when he needs to really gun it to first can get loose him. Do I think he can overcome it? I don't know honestly. Some guys never end up with the accuracy needed to play a consistent infield position. He would be a downgrade defensively from Westburg for sure, who's consistency is what makes him so good over there. Knowing how much the Orioles put into being good defensively on the dirt, I just don't know if they are going to really ever give him a chance at 3B unless he starts getting more consistent on those throws. I still think RF may end up being where he will need to play at the major league level if Mountcastle is still here at 1B next year.
  20. I guess I don't see Bradfield season this year having any impact on whether you start giving Holliday center field experience. Holliday is a good enough athlete to be able to move back and forth between CF and 2B. Giving him that experience and seeing how he looks only adds to his versatility and opens up potential PAs for Mayo once he's healthy and back hitting like he was.
  21. He would not rival anyone for the SB crown because he has to get on base to do that, and no way is he close to be ready to do that at the major league level. He has a .330 OBP in A+ Ball. Yes, Bradfield absolutely could come up and play great defense, but if people are upset with Mullins' bat, they'd be out with pitchforks with Bradfield right now. He's got a long way to go.
  22. To me it's about the future, but even more than this year. If Holliday can show he can play CF well, it gives the Orioles more options in 2024 and beyond, but also this year in case Mullins is still struggling at the AS break offensively. I don't see Holliday coming back anytime soon anyways, especially if Mateo keeps playing competently at 2B like he has. Mayo's injury has made him one injury away from getting recalled unless they really want to give Urias everyday PAs for a bit, which is doubtful.
  23. Updated thru May 20th. Some movers at the bottom of the list with pitchers really taking steps forward. Not a ton of hitters really doing well over the last ten days or so.
  24. Just to track last week's update.
  25. With Mayo out for a bit with a broken rib, this is all on hold anyways! Saying that, I'm a proponent of moving Holliday to CF. He has the speed and with Mullins scuffling, he gives them a nice option in 2025 out there or even late 2024 IF, Holliday shows he can play there effectively and Mullins is still scuffling with the bat. I would have have play about 60% there and 40% at 2B.
