  1. Well, I'm no pitching coach, but one way is to have them work on that pitch or pitches in the minors and not worry about the results. He should know without throwing a high enough percentage of strikes or getting swings and misses on his offspeed pitches he's not getting promoted. Let's face it, Rodriguez did not earn his promotion this year. He had a terrible spring and then had one AAA start where he walked 4 in 4 IP. The stuff is there, but he's clearly not quite ready to be able to compete when his command is off. that's something pitchers learn over time.
  2. Problem is, Elias has not shown any ability to do that. He's traded for one starter and it was Cole Irvin. He has 4 drafts under his belt and had not drafted one single pitcher that looks like a major league starter right now and has not traded for any of them either. How many legitimate starters are available in the off season or trading deadline that are not rentals? The Braves drafted Strider and Elder in the same draft (2020). Maybe it's not that they shouldn't draft pitching, but maybe they are not great at developing pitching? Now saying that, I do think they've developed Kremer and Bradish so I can't say they haven't developed anyone, but Rodriguez even in AAA this year never was dominating.
  3. Oh well. Terrible start for Rodriguez. There will be better days ahead but his command needs to improve significantly. You know where people say, "There's nothing more he needs to prove in AAA" I point to starts like this. It's not learning how to get major league hitters out, its about command his stuff. You can't be able to only get your fastball over for strikes.
  4. Well they have scored 4 times in 4 innings vs Ohtani, so can't blame the bats. Just a real bad effort by Rodriguez.
  5. Guess Brown knows who Ohtani is now, right? Ohtani who? Garbage talk.
  6. Me too, but I shortened it after the HR! LOL
  7. I'd say you may want to follow the game @ Baseball Savant if ESPN is saying that.
  8. I freakin' hate run on contact with a runner on 3rd. Thankfully Santander just came through!
  9. It's easy for some to be down on Grayson, but it's not a lack of stuff or bad mound presence. It's all about command with him. When he commands his pitches he has TOR stuff. His problems have been finding that command, particularly early in his starts. This has been a problem for him for some time now including his AAA starts after coming back from his oblique. Hopefully it something he can figure out sooner than later because the Orioles really need him to step up and realize his potential sooner than later.
  10. When you cant get your offspeed off over you can sit fastball. He's got to find a way to get command of this offspeed stuff earlier in games.
  11. He's been a bit of slow starter in his starts this year for the most part. Hopefully he can settle in before he gives up a big inning.
  12. I wouldn't either, but he has made a few wish they did. lol
  13. Brown has gradually gotten very homerish and dare I say "fratty" since becoming comfortable in his role. That was just childishly terrible to say that about a great player like Ohtani.
  14. BTW, congratulations to the man who signs the Whopper song. Anyone with that tone deaf monotone voice that ends up singing in a national commercial for a major food restaurant is a man with skills to get noticed.
  15. Frazier is just one of those sneaky players that seems to pop one when you least expect it.
  16. I'm assuming he forgot to use the green font.
  17. "Players may only be optioned five times per season; after that, it requires outright assignment waivers to assign the player to the Minor Leagues."
  18. Damn man, who pee'd in your cheerios this morning?
  19. Even as one of Stowers' biggest supporters on here, he earned this demotion. He needs to get out of this funk. I don't know if the pressure got him or because they never let him face left-handers (which he hits better) but Stowers looked totally over matched at the plate. Now why Gillaspie? He's most rested reliever on the 40-man in Norfolk. He won't be here long.
  20. It was a one-star catch and yes, he misread it a bit which is why he had to reach back. Wasn't incredibly easy, but it did have a 95% catch completion rate. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/sporty-videos?playId=091a3e43-db5d-40bc-b2f1-7e27b5534120 So in your defense in this particular point, yes, he made it harder than it should have been. Overall though, he's been pretty good in RF this year with 2 OAA. He also has a 4-star border line 5-star catch earlier this year in Chicago. This had only a 40% chance of catch success. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/sporty-videos?playId=d78680db-021c-472d-97f9-4c2581395676
