  1. So basically Hyde's bullpen management gave up 3 runs in 4 innings while using five relievers and the Orioles still lost. Oh well, add this up as a questionable loss. Now we go up against Toronto with a short bullpen.
  2. Of course Rutschman will be walked with Mountcastle behind him. Santander should be batting 3rd.
  3. So if Frazier doesn't try to stretch it out it would be runner's on 2nd and 3rd and one out. good Lord.
  4. He just uses too many each game. Look at how many games each reliever has already. he needs to allow guys like Baumann and Voth to eat 2 or 3 innings at a time instead of yanking them the second they get into any trouble. He wants to play matchups so bad, but he always has a short pen because he uses five pitchers to get through 4 innings.
  5. This is what happens when your starter only gives you five innings and you pull your length guys (Baumann and Voth) quickly. Hyde really needs to stop trying use all his releivers in games and needs to start allowing guys take 2 or 3 inning stints to save the pen. if Baumann and Voth are not those guys, get someone up who are.
  6. True. Bad outings by him and Baumann really were the difference so far.
  7. Yeah, I tried to switch that before anyone saw. I would have gone Irvin here.
  8. I'll be honest, I might've gone to Irvin here down by one and hope he can get through the inning. Coulombe for another inning pretty much makes him a no go for tomorrow.
  9. This goes back to the 6th inning when Baumann couldn't get through one inning of work. He really needs to come in and eat two innings in that situation. If he's not going to be consistent enough to do that, he's going to end up back in Norfolk. Needing to pull him before the game imploded put a situation in where Voth had to come in in a situation he's not good at.
  10. Yeah, that was never going end well. This team needs more than 5 innings from it's starter when Cano and maybe Bautista aren't available. Really a pretty poor bullpen effort overall today.
  11. Well that was a big K, but what can go wrong with Trout at the plate and Ohtani on deck?
  12. Voth is not a guy who warms up quick and comes into mid-inning assignments. He's not that guy but clearly Hyde is staying away from at least Cano here.
  13. the bullpen is short when you need to bring Voth into a mid-inning assignment in a one run game in the 8th with a tie runner on 2nd. Not a strongsuit for Voth.
  14. Hyde is a slave to the platoon regardless of whether the guy he's replacing him with is really better than the guy he's replacing.
  15. Aren't we in the top of the 4th? Hasn't this team come back many times this year? They very well may lose, but man seems pretty depressing to be convinced of this after 3 innings.
  16. Mountcastle has certainly regressed this year defensively and have no issues with Santander getting some time over there.
  17. Oh, I'm not arguing for Stowers over Vavra with the at bats he was having. Stowers well earned that demotion and needed a reset. i just wondered if I missed something with Santander physically. He's a better defensive outfielder than Vavra so if one should be in RF, it should be santander unless he's dinged up. Then the decision is Vavra vs O'Hearn for DH and occasional 1B.
  18. Wrong forum Roy, but I do appreciate you bumping our plus member thread! lol
  19. Well that depends on a few things like need. I'll agree with you that we will not see Holliday most likely until 2025 no matter what he continues to do as long as the SS position is doing well with either Mateo or Ortiz. If there is a hole next year for some reason, and the Orioles are in contention, and Holliday is playing well in AAA, I could see the Orioles pulling him up next year. I do think service time stuff certainly plays a role in promotions with the Orioles, but Holliday is a different beast and I do see a path for him to playing in Baltimore by next year sometime. It will really be up to his performance and current need.
  20. Anthony Santander is having one of his best defensive seasons in several years in RF this season and has been hitting the ball well in May, so why has he started just one game in RF over the last six games? I get getting Mountcastle a break and him getting start at 1B, but why is Vavra starting in RF while he's at DH? Vavra is a well below average outfielder with a -5.6 ft/sec jump and his 29.7 ft/sec covered is well below Santander's 2.1 ft/sec above avg jump and 34.3 ft/sec this season. Did I miss something about Santander being nicked up? I much rather see Santander in RF and O'Hearn at DH against righties for now, at least until the Orioles pull the trigger on Westburg or when Cowser heals up. Vavra just started 3 straight games in RF and while the Orioles have won 2 of 3 of those games, I'm struggling to see why he's getting starts in RF over Santander unless Santander is nicked up.
  21. Well don't expect him up soon then.
  22. Well they won't promote him mid-week, so at the earliest it will be next week. The Ironbirds are home next week and the Baysox are home the week of May 30th. My guess if they decide to move him it will be that week.
  23. This. Cano is better than every pitcher in baseball right now. If I were Hyde, I'd be tempted to use Cano against the heart of the order whether that be the 8th or 9th innings. I know it's hard with closers because they expect to be in the 9th, but right now Cano is in the middle of a historic run of success. He's the closest thing I've seen to being unhittable as an Orioles pitcher. Even during Zach Britton's amazing 2016, he still allowed base runners here and there. Cano is doing something few have ever done when it comes to not even allowing base runners. For me, you have to use Cano against the toughest batters late in the game and that should not matter whether it's in the 8th or 9th IMHO.
