  1. Think it was just us and Dallas left needing a starting RB.

Just need Henry to stay healthy and that one-two punch with Keaton Mitchell and Henry will be pretty lethal. Not sure how teams defend that on top of Lamar.

Ryu on a 1yr/$5-6 million deal makes a lot of sense. Heck, that’s the going rate just for a decent LH RP. It’s an insurance policy that is well worth the risk. Even if he is just a 5 and dive type. Lefties play up in OPACY.

He must just want to go back to Korea. Someone here would give him more than 3-4 for a year. Probably figures less stress/taxes.

The reason I hesitate is because it's for 1 year, which means he's not our Verlander unless/until we extend him.

Let's say we lose him this year. Do we trade Tavera and McDermott for next year's Burnes? Even with our system, it's not a sustainable method of talent acquisition.

We have a real owner now who, y'know, can just sign a big arm.

This is the type of move you just have to if you're serious about winning a WS. You need this type of arm in the playoffs.

Now having said that, you're giving up a lot of years of control for one year. Also, Burnes was diminished last year whether we want to admit it or not. Velocity down, strikeouts down. Did make changes and course correct in the second half. This is a Houston in their prime type of acquire slightly diminished Ace and get them back to peak form. Also better stadium, defense, Adley handling.

To be fair SG has been saying it for years.  I've always wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt because he acquitted himself pretty well early in his career.  But he had the benefit of a lot of vets that had been there, and he's struggled to get out of the divisional round since his most recent run starting in 2018.

I just hope this isn't a case we're stuck with the guy forever. Like when this all repeats next year, can we finally kick him upstairs or are we seriously just going to totally waste Lamar and the strong defensive core.

  5. How are people just now waking up to the fact Harbaugh is a massive liability in the playoffs? Should've been clear years ago.

Anyway, he does nothing to help you win the big games and actively hurts you with his mentality. They are not mentally ready, it's almost like they're surprised by what they're seeing and the second they fall behind everything they've done to reach that point goes out the window. Lamar gets frazzled because there's no real plan - if he had Andy Reid, Shanahan, McVay, McDaniel in his ear guy would be such a cheat code monster. Instead he's frazzled and waiting on these long developing plays while getting blitzed. This stuff should be common sense but nothing will change.

  6. Real scary thing about KC is their WRs were trash outside of the rookie Rice. They will sign a Pittman and/or draft someone else.

Give Lamar Andy Reid and I think he'll look more "clutch." To me, that is the difference. Mahomes is always composed because they have a game plan and they just don't do stupid stuff.

Then you have the Ravens who act surprised when teams blitz and keep doing long developing passing routes until the second half or end of game. Like WTF. How can anyone ever be confident we won't simply be outcoached every time?

Flowers just needed to tuck the ball and that's a TD. But, still, Mahomes and their offense would've just done enough to win regardless imo. They shut their offense down and went ultra conservative but you saw the bomb to MVS when they needed a play.

  7. Yeah, Reid will always outcoach Harbaugh.

Not sure why our offense is always surprised when defenses blitz heavy. Shouldn't we, I don't know, have screen and short passes immediately ready to go??

KC will now sign a Pittman or someone at WR, draft someone. They were in a beatable state this season and we totally squandered it.

Watching Lamar this year in Monken's offense makes me wonder how much of Lamar's career did they waste with Roman already?

Well they wasted his rookie deal with the 1 playoff win. Imagine the damage McVay/Shanahan/McDaniel would've done with Lamar. Thing is the run game would've worked regardless of OC because of Lamar. Like that element was going to be there by default. Should've been common sense to build up a strong passing game, give him weapons, etc.

If they had lost against Penn State at home, which they almost did, that would have been trouble.

Seems like a repeat of last year: good at home and completely horrendous on the road.

Just really missing Hart's offense and Martinez's defense. Don't understand how you let those guys get away? The freshmen look like duds. Still, you would think they'd improve almost by default considering how bad they've been. But don't remember a Maryland team being this paper thin basically ever.

Real issue is next year when you lose almost everyone (especially if Reese moves on). Doesn't look like recruiting is getting anywhere. Will need to work the portal but Willard failed there this season.

  10. What an absolute disaster. Willard's teams are godawful on the road. Willard already looking like the wrong guy. I don't get what happened in the offseason. Brought in nobody from the portal and lost Hakim Heart. The freshmen look terrible. Also why are you heaving up endless threes when you can't shoot? Turgeon's teams used to do this nonstop and it drove me crazy.

John Angelos can most certainly afford to take the payroll up 35- 50 million which is about what it's going to take.

What he can do and what he wants to do are two different things. I think it's obvious he cares more about money.

Look, we obviously needed to add a TOR last offseason and they cheaped out. It's pretty clear cut at this point, sign or acquire a TOR or you're not serious about truly contending.

  12. Rangers lineup has no easy outs and their manager has won 12 of his last 13 playoff series. Can't believe people here actually preferred to face them.

Anyway, we didn't sign a single difference maker during the offseason then doubled down on the stupidity by not adding anyone proven at the deadline. They gambled on pure hopium that Flaherty's good July wasn't a mirage, but it was. They gambled they could fix Fuji in time. Like, why are you gambling and not simply adding proven vets who might cost slightly more but would be far more reliable?

How many times can Harbaugh leave points on the field? Literally the only way the Steelers stay in the game is if we make mistakes and keep them close.

Just incredibly stupid, but it is what Harbauh does.

Yeah it's constant. Never seen a coach cost his team so many points.

Also how hard is it to just feed Gus? They sure love working in these other backs who aren't as sure handed/solid.

The worst part is that this was the inevitable outcome imo. The story always sounded like bs to me or at least it sounded sensationalized by the “victim”.

Yeah, never passed the smell test for me. Like this guy is going to flush a NINE figure contract for what ...

If guilty, how stupid can you be to throw away your career right before you have an opportunity to sign a gigantic contract that will leave you set for life?

Guy just likely cost himself hundreds of millions.

It's really weird to me that he can hit circus passes inside 20 yards but can't hit the side of a barn beyond it.  But if that's truly his skillset, I think the Ravens can still be successful playing around that.  He demonstrated that he can throw outside the hashes now.  If he can use all 53 yards laterally then the Ravens don't really need him to make passes more than 20 yards from the LOS.

Yeah I mean even if you're accurate on the deep ball how many per game do you really connect on? Maybe one or two? I think Lamar's running ability counters any deep ball/accuracy issues. And it IS weird that his MVP year he was more accurate. Is it bad mechanics causing him to regress there? Lack of practice? Who knows.

Greg Roman couldn't run a passing game to save his life. Even if Monken is just average there, that's a massive leap. And then plugging in Zay Flowers - who I think is the best receiver we've ever drafted - and OBJ on top of whatever you get out of Bateman plus Andrews plus depth guy in Duv ... just feels almost impossible not to succeed.

I love the passion but some of you all need to understand that sometimes players have bad nights.  He's had 1 really good start, 1 so so start against a really good team, and now one terrible start.  Doesn't mean he's terrible.

I mean the guy had a bad year and a half. A hot July didn't really change anything.

I don’t understand why we chose that option though. Like other than going cheap or thinking that we were the smartest guys in the room, what was the rationale?

Feels like we were still in tanking mindset with that move. Like that's totally the type of guy you'd take a shot on if the games don't matter and you think you can tweak some things and if it works out, great. And if not, oh well.
