Isn’t this the 3rd meltdown from Fujinama since he’s been on the team?

I struggle to understand the thought process that led to the conclusion that the risk of a reclamation project was all we needed to add to the bullpen to win a pennant.

Absolutely moronic. Instead of getting some lights out reliever which is what was needed let's get some arsonist to pour gasoline all over close games.

  2. So John Angelos has gone viral twice this year for sheer idiocy. Funny how he only came out of his hole once we started winning.

My takeaways here: Kevin Brown will bolt as soon as his contract allows. Whether that's next year or the year after. Mike Elias similarly is as good as gone. There is no way in hell he's going to stay and work for this cheap moron.

As magical as this season has been, I've not allowed myself to fully buy in because it will not be sustained long term and full measures will not be taken as long as we're owned by an Angelos.

  3. Flaherty prices himself out of our reach if he finishes strong. Still young and TOR stuff .. he's probably already near 20 mil a season. Really strong finish could bump him up to, what, 25 a year?

BTW Houston's MO was going after discounted Aces. Then unlocking something and taking them to the next level. Kinda seeing that happening here with Flaherty.

Yeah he seems great at getting yards after the catch. Something that Hollywood was never great at for some reason. Flowers is going to be someone that Lamar can get the ball to in space and let him get yards for him. I think the trend is definitely towards smaller quicker receivers who get open, but toughness, and elusiveness after the catch is what sets some of those guys like Flowers apart from others.

Yeah Hollywood is soft .. he'd go down a lot or run out of bounds to avoid contact. He's been injured every year, he just has a slight build and is aware of that and probably in body preservation mode. Saw a body comparison pic between him and Flowers. Looks like Flowers got jacked going into the combine, putting on 10+ pounds mostly muscle. Hollywood plays small while Flowers plays bigger than his size and has that dawg in him.

I usually covet those big and fast guys too, but I really like Zay Flowers.

Just went through watching highlights of most drafted WRs and honestly Flowers impressed me the most. JSN is the most polished but Flowers really jumps out as a playmaker. Just crazy shifty, can accelerate and decelerate at high level and really has an ability to break plays. Can juke defenders the way top end playmakers can. Think we finally hit on one here. Also other than JSN, the top 3-4 guys I saw were all shorter guys. I don't think that really matters anymore.

You could just say, his last good season was the last time he was healthy.  So if he's healthy...

He'll be 31 though coming off serious injuries.

It's just a ridiculous overpay and terrible bet that he'll make it the full year.

I'm assuming Lamar wanted this though and from that perspective "have to do what you have to do" semi makes sense.

Issue lately is Reese getting into foul trouble. I think he's our most talented player and when he's forced out there's a dropoff.

Welp, Alabama was there for the taking but Reese early foul trouble cost us a chance to be ahead or even at the half. 5 point deficit isn't insurmountable but they'll probably start hitting threes or just heat up at some point.

  8. KenPom has WVU at 17. 15 in offense and 52 in defense.

But they only won 2 conference road games.

So this seems pretty even. Issue lately is Reese getting into foul trouble. I think he's our most talented player and when he's forced out there's a dropoff. Indiana took the lead in the second half with him out of the game. So that plus Young being on offensively are really the keys. Young is really our only consistent scorer.

I have a suspicion that the NFLPA is arming itself for a collusion lawsuit based on the Lamar situation.  I'm not a tinfoil hatter to the extent that I think that Lamar was influenced by them negatively - I think Lamar wanted what he wanted - but this situation really has an odor to it.

I mean it's blatant collusion in the sense of what owner in his right mind wants to extend the Watson guaranteed contract insanity and screw himself over on future contracts.

I honestly believe the ball has a fair amount to do with it.

Yeah I'm thinking you might be right on that. There's gotta be SOMETHING to this home/road split. Can't lose at home, can't really win on the road. Like what the hell. And whenever they get ranked you KNOW a letdown is coming. Probably should've been betting hard all season on this home/road split but hate betting against my teams.

Anyway, so are we screwed in the tournament by virtue of it not being at home? Young/Reese/Scott/Hart is too good a foursome to not at least make the Sweet 16. "Bipolar" really is the best word to describe this team, Tony. Don't think I've seen anything this severe ever.

Baker did throw his career best in passing yards in 2019 but he also threw a ton of picks and had a really bad QBR.  And that was with Odell right?    Odell played all 16 games that year.     Hmmmm

Also Jarvis Landry had his best year. Could see us signing him since he's washed up and will be cheap. That'll be our big FA WR signing.

Can someone say some things to make me feel better about this pick?   I understand Georgia has had incredible success the past two years.

I have concerns looking at his previous NFL track record though as OC.

For example, he was the OC of the Browns in 2019.

Of the 3 year period from 2018-2020, Baker Mayfield was the primary QB there.   Baker's worst year by far was 2019.

The browns scored 335 points in 2019.   They scored 359 in 2018 and over 400 after Monken left.

    Am I being too critical?

Let me preface by saying going from Roman to almost anyone would've resulted in massive improvement in the passing game.

Having said that, yeah, Monken only lasted one season in Cleveland and Baker had 21 INTs that year.

His short stint in TB wasn't all that impressive but they put up a lot of passing yards (because they were so awful and Winston was just slingin' it).

So the PRO track record really isn't all that good. Harbs seems to just value experience, whether it's good experience or not is irrelevant to him.

  13. Problem is they're losing everyone after this season so gonna have to reload.

This team would be very legit but just awful on the road and really poor from three. I wish they'd just stop taking so many damn threes as when they're off they're just doomed. Hard to believe they clawed back going 3 for 22 on 3s.

Feel like they're way more enjoyable than Turgeon teams so can't really complain.

But it sure is disappointing to feel like (once again) we already know the Terps will not be dancing

Not so fast there buddy. 3 straight wins at home, including a convincing one over 21 ranked Indiana. Would think with their remaining schedule, they're in.

Just a different team at home. Maybe it goes back to the ball thing.

As for Reich he deserves to be a head coach and it’s Irsay’s loss. His hire of Saturday was dreadful and his decision making is more of the same by a bad football ownership family.

Reich would've been nice. Figured he'd get a HC job again. I really just want someone who has OC-ed before and has shown he can run an above average passing scheme and is a good play caller. These should be obvious things but I don't trust Harbaugh.

  16. Brian Johnson probably gets an interview. Obviously helped Hurts. Worked with Dak in college. Part of staff of a high scoring Florida offense. Only negative is only 2 years as OC.

Reich may get Carolina head coach gig, but if not would definitely interview.

This is starting to make the rounds outside of the Orioles universe. Seems like it's got the potential to really go viral since he invoked MLK Jr. day as an excuse for not answering questions. Not a good look.

God I hope it does and turns into a meme. Hope he turns into a laughingstock. Imagine not just tactfully deflecting the question or GOD FORBID actually answer it. Like why has everything always been treated like such a state secret with that family? It's a friggin' baseball team. Get over yourselves.

The man never gives a public appearance, does some fake, fluff thing where he throws chump change at something and doesn’t expect Os questions?  Pathetic.

It wasn't even a hard hitting question. "What are you plans a year, 2, 5." Meaning, what is the ownership plan i.e. selling the team etc.

HOW DARE YOU ASK QUESTIONS ON MLK DAY!

    What a POS.
