  1. Is a gentleman with a brostache invited to this party??????

My roommate downloaded all those apps onto his phone and now plays them in time with the commercial whenever it comes on. Sometimes in the middle of the night I'll just hear a "Yeah dog!" from the other room. It's one part annoying, one part hilarious, sometimes I can't decide.

  2. Thats it, I'm starting a grassroots effort, non-profit to go door to door and get people to cancel/not use Fios. What a joke Verizon is.

What's wrong with Fios? Verizon isn't perfect but I hated Comcast and I haven't had any problems with Verizon over the last three years. What happened?

  3. Lots of people believe that God is always testing you, to make you a better/stronger/more devout person. That could be one example as to why God would do something like create a hurricane.

What I think happened is that the Earth has a weather system that occasionally results in hurricanes.

If there is a God, and he wants us to thank him for something like that, then I see no reason to worship him.

I agree with this. That said, whatever gets you through life is fine by me. No one has all the answers.

  4. This is a great thread and I know many have said it is the funniest they have seen. For some who are new to the board if you can find the movie clip that Clarence (I believe that is who did it) did after the Tex signing with Hitler ranting about how Tex got away (Hitler was played by JTrea I believe). It will have you laughing hysterically. The only unfortunate thing is that a few of the notable posters who are used in the clip are not posting anymore, but it by far is one of the funniest things I have seen of all time. A must view if you have never seen it before.

That is definitely the funniest thing I've ever seen on the OH... though if I remember correctly the video is gone forever. Too bad, it was a classic.

  5. She's the kind that actually makes it more difficult for women in sports. I'm perfectly happy to read or listen to or watch a woman report or comment on sports, as long as they are good at it. If not, I'll dislike them just like any man that isn't any good at their job.

I know it's been said before but Britt Ghiroli is a perfect example. She's nothing but professional, never injects herself into the story, and is all around one of the better reporters to cover the O's in a while.

  6. Different rant...

So let me get this straight... you build an entire marketing campaign for your TV sports talk show around the fact that the host is brash, obnoxious, and "doesn't know what he's going to say next"? Really??

Every time I see the commercial I cringe - I'd never even imagine wasting time to tune in such a jerk as marketed in this ad. I hope in "real life" he's not that bad, but it's something I'm never going to bother to find out. Just everything I dislike in sports talk... bleh.

I assume you're talking about John Riggins and I completely agree.. that commercial does nothing but turn me off to watching his show. The worst part are the absolutely idiotic shots he takes at golf - "Golf's not a sport!" and "There's no blood in golf!" You'd think the first rule of starting up a sports talk show would be don't unload blanket insults at an entire sport.

I might be biased, though. I feel like I see that commercial about 800 times a day.

  7. While I agree with the sentiment of your rant, I also understand where some of the posters are coming from. The orange is still just a little too bright and I find myself squinting at the screen. It's much, much improved from the bright orange/white text-box, but the contrast is still a little harsh and I can see why it would be especially harder on some of the older posters with more sensitive eyes. It's a testament to what a great community we have here that these posters are frustrated; they want to continue to contribute but also don't want to have to cope with headaches just to do so. I appreciate all the hard work the staff is putting into the site and understand there are going to be some aches and pains during the transfer, but I don't think all of the complaining is unwarranted, though a little more tact would probably help their cause.

Anyways, my short rant: Opening day vendors.

I don't disagree with you - there's always room for improvement and it seems like suggestions are welcome. I just don't understand the attitude that some posters seem to have about it.

  8. This may be a bit too close to home but am I the only one a little annoyed with everyone jumping on the smallest details of the new board? The orange is too bright, the header is too big, the words are too small, yadda yadda yadda. It's wonderful that the staff is receptive to the common suggestions and complaints of the community but some people are acting like this new format is a deal-breaker and their minor quibbles with the board should shoot right to the top of Tony's priorities. Take a second to appreciate the fact that you have a freakin' miracle of a machine in front of you, a wonder of technology that allows you to discuss your relatively meaningless obsession with other passionate fans all around the world. I wouldn't have half the baseball knowledge I do without this place and I couldn't care less what it looks like, the community is what makes it.

  9. Yes. But, she wasn't "kicking" them loudly (which I know can be annoying)...she was merely happily swinging her cute, little feet. Even had she been kicking them loudly, it's not as annoying as listening to him berate 10 year old girls (with witty lines like "Hey everyone look...#11 finally caught a pass!). And, I don't care how annoyed you are...keep your damned hands off my daughter.

Agree, no one should be touching your daughter. I am just the sort of person that has a low tolerance for little kids annoying me.. though it sounds like you were at a youth basketball game, that sort of thing should be expected.

  10. To the man living vicariously through his 10-year old daughter's "basketball career"...

    1. They are 10...they don't care as much as you think they do.

    2. It's a basketball game...if my 2 year old wants to gently kick the bleachers in the empty gym, she can. We're not in church...it's a basketball game.

    3. If you touch my 2 year old daughter's foot to make her stop one more time (because it's distracting you from screaming at 10-year old girls while they try to play basketball), I will break your nose.

Just playing Devil's advocate here... was your daughter kicking the bleachers near where he was sitting? Because that can be EXTREMELY ANNOYING.
