It's not going to feel like normalcy again until next summer.

If the estimates that we can expect somewhere from 40%-70% of the total population to become infected over the next 18 months are accurate, normal will never be the same again. Hopefully, they will develop some drugs to treat the virus while creating and testing a vaccine.

Kinda why I posted it. NO baseball (shoulda had a MASN TV game last night and coming up Sunday grumblegrumblegrumble) and if there WAS baseball we'd just be getting our asses kicked! Gerritt Cole Opening Day was going to be no picnic... No chance of ONE day even in 1st place undefeated.

Reminds me of the time Roger Clemens predicted throwing a no-hitter against the O's on opening day and we kicked his roid-raging ass.

As interloper says below flattenthe curve.  Healthcare treatment capacity could be greatly benefitted by taking every precaution.  Even if the exact same number of people got it but over a longer period of time it can still stay under the healthcare capacity limit.

Put it this way, I know some healthcare institutions are looking at their stocks to determine if they have enough preventative gear (masks, gloves) for their healthcare workers to provide care and its close.  The less the general pop has to use (for instance not having 1000s attend baseball games with masks on) the better.

If we don't make a national effort to flatten the curve we likely will have multiple pockets where the caseload is too great for the hospitals. It will resemble what's going on now in northern Italy.

  4. Though Roch used the word "surgery" in his initial tweet, he didn't use it at all in the blog post he published later, simply calling it a non-baseball medical procedure. Not to be alarmist, but for someone in Florida who has flu-like symptoms for five days but hasn't caught the flu, two weeks of self-quarantine could be what the doctor ordered. Not saying that's it, just that it could be.

Glad to see that he's trying new things but quite frankly anyone who's catching games for the Orioles these next couple of years is just a placeholder for AR.

    That's when they'll move him to 3B.

This is sports sounds like an excuse.

I was in the service, I didn't act that way.  No one acted that way with superiors.

Why do athletes get an exemption?

Because they can't be put in a stockade?

    Shouldn’t be paid

Players don't get paid for spring training. I guess he could be fined. I don't know how long he would have to not show up before they could put him on the inactive list (which would mean not paying him).
