So with the constant changes, I'm not sure I know 25% of the 40 man roster. Is there a thread or link that keeps this up to date?

Well we were 2-15 against them last year without Cole. Even if terrible, hopefully we can accidentally find 2 wins against them.
2-17, but who's counting?

There will be opportunity galore! Whether that turns out to be a good thing or a bad thing remains to be seen.

Mullins would make Pirates fans forget all about Marte.

First cut down day of camp, Hyde will get all his catchers and put this guy on the mound.
"If you can catch 5 in a row, you won't be cut."
But since he wasn't invited to major league camp ...

It was probably Buck's insistence on bringing in Colby Rasmus that killed the opportunity for him.

Whoops, thanks. Replying on here and to my boss got things mixed up.
Feel free to say that to your boss. Tell him I said it's okay.

I doubt that.
I see him being similar to Akin. Not invited to camp, maybe brought over a few times, and spend the whole season in Norfolk with a sh*t at competing for a spot next season.
You might want to edit that.

Since Cashner's only recent success has come with Brocail as his pitching coach in Baltimore and Texas, I think the O's have a big advantage over other teams ... if they want him.

63 players in major league camp. Gonna be quite a few guys who get less playing time than they're hoping for.

Have to put an asterisk next to every player's stats.

More noise on Cashner in the rumor mill today.

Just picking up on what Roch wrote two days ago.

From the same blog post, here's Elias on Mountcastle last week in Salisbury.
Quote“All of that is pretty normal with a young hitter, but there are still some questions to answer in terms of when is he going to be totally ready, a finished product, and where is he going to play on the field. If he’s only able to play first base or DH, it’s much tougher to pair him in the lineup with a Trey Mancini or a Renato Núñez or other guys who are going to be on our team next year. We want him to provide a little more flexibility than that.”
I emphasized the sentence where he mentions Mancini and Nunez at 1B/DH and doesn't mention Davis. Best thing I've read all year.

Are you still working on all the spring training lineups and in-game substitutions?

When ownership can be convinced to eat the remaining money.
If they can't be convinced to eat the money, then winning isn't really a priority.

Then at least we have a better chance of winning with him just an ornament on the bench. I am halfway serious. I would give him zero playing time this spring and into the season. He can get his money but I am doing what is best to win as many games as possible. With a 26th slot, we could do it with zero difference from last year’s 25.
When winning becomes a priority, Davis will be gone.

I'd still make Davis play on all the travel days. Oriole fans shouldn't be subjected to watching him play.

.751 OPS in ST last year with 3 homers in 37 AB. I expect him to do something similar.
They should start him in away games so he faces major league pitchers. If he doesn't travel, he won't see an experienced starter until the last week or so of ST.

That line alone suggests he's thinking about things wayyyy too much. Dude, just go out there and focus on hitting the ball. Stop thinking about who's in the lineup and what THEIR skills are.
He's just thinking about all the wrong things.
You give him too much credit. He's just dancing for the microphone. He's not doing a damned thing.

If both Diaz and Mountcastle reach the bigs this year, it presents a pretty interesting roster challenge for guys like Santander and the crunch on Davis becomes truly real for the first time. Gotta put Mancini somewhere.

The Chris Davis Show will be back on the air in just a few weeks and we'll be able to see exactly how little of the advice he was given by Hyde and Elias he actually put into action. P&C report next Tuesday, so I expect he'll be making his first stop at the gym tomorrow sometime.
