Bloop and a blast does it

I feel a rally coming Orioles are not this helpless at the plate.

Hold on O's fans. This A's bullpen with Rollie Fingers and Eddie Plank unable to go tonight is vulnerable to an O's hitting barrage.

The O's begin an interesting four team series against the same teams (A's, Senators, & Tigers) with the WSox thrown in between. The Rays went 9-0 against them. Is 8-1 or 7-2 enough to hang with the Rays? So much for the balanced schedule if one doesn't beat up on the bad teams.

If Holmes has recovered from his 2nd-half slump last year, that's big for the Yankees.
Looks like he's recovered.

Great video clip. Brought back many memories. Saw first pro baseball game at Memorial Stadium in 1953. Little League baseball team went to see the International League Baltimore Orioles (Phillies AAA affiliate). Took all of my sons to see a game at "the stadium". One now a life long O's fan and another a "water cooler fan". Future father-in-law helped build the upper deck extension. A lot of Baltimore sports history rapped up in that palace. Both Orioles and Colts. Aah, 1983, the year Home Team Sports (HTS) brought every Orioles game to TV in distant lands, like historic Southern Maryland. Last WS champion.

A win in April counts as much as one in Sept.

Great moves Hyder. Don't need no outfield defense if you strike out the side!!

59 Orioles. Walt Dropo. 6'5" 220lbs. Albie Pearson. 5'6" 140 lbs.

Walk followed by botched DP oppurtunity puts runners on 1 & 2. Then nicely turned DP puts runner on third. GRod then Throws curve to backstop allows runner to score. Holt to mound followed by double off monster. 4-0 Sox. Hyde to mound and pulls GRod. This inning didn't work out to well. 70 pitches. Looked pretty sharp most of the time, but too many mistakes in the end.

Melanie Newman is still horrendous doing play-by-play. Unwatchable.
I synced up the radio broadcast with MASN TV and don't have to listen to the TV broadcasters. Jeff and Bret are pretty good on radio.

Two run blast by Duval over the monster in left.

Regular ss is at WBC

Listening on the radio, the pace really does seem way faster. I’m digging it.
Only a minute and a half commercial between innings also speeds the game.

Top 2nd
Twins down 1.2.3
-
O's go down 1.2.3. Mullins, FO 8, Rutch K.

Jones let's potential dp ball slip out of his grip on the transfer. Then makes a marginal throw to first on the next ground ball and the runner is safe and E4.
-
A weak play at second by Jones.
-
Don't care for the interview format over the play by play especially when we have to look at the announcers and the guest and can't even see the game action.

Nevermind on O'Day and Miggy, didn't see the retired for 5 years part.
Bob Nieman. Played LF for 56-59 Orioles. Had a 140 Ops + in his four years. Contended for AL batting championship in 58, but got hurt and missed qualifiying by 30 or so plate appearences. Played his rookie and second year with SLB. Hit homers in first two ML at bats. Didn't count that because it was with Browns in 51. Just a forgotten man but "Pretty Good."

Listening to the Red Sox radio team melt down was fun. Mentioned the anniversary of the "Curse of the Andino" several times. "How could we lose to the worst team in baseball, they are a terrible team. Should have been a cake walk for us with Sale on the mound."

They're trying to lull us into a false sense of security, for when we play each other in the World Series in October.

What year will that be?

Maybe Robert's is doing a game or two while the club is in FL. I think he lives there and so it would save the price of a hotel room and a couple of meals if someone had to come in from out of town. Gotta keep the expenses under control.
