Well if all this is true, then it's a bit silly, IMO. Being petrified that a team might claim Mateo and then he goes Beast Mode and comes back to haunt us, or at the very least helps a competitor...I mean, that's part of the game. That's a risk you gotta take. I admire how Elias has amassed all this talent, I can't think of a time in my life where the Orioles have had so much talent in the organization. But if he's so tightfisted on some of it when it comes to a guy like Mateo, that's a bit weird. It's like how I'd feel about drafting and developing guys in Madden when I was in college....like I said, weird.
