  1. I've been cutting my own hair since I was 12. I think I could probably do it without looking by now.

I know; apples and oranges. :)

You know, I've seen your hair, and I am not suprised. ;)

  2. Yeah, I've totally done that before too. Quietly pulled a manager aside and been like "look, I understand why a large party is made to have automatic gratuity, but someone needs to tell (waiter's name) that doesn't mean he gets a free pass on doing his job correctly." Since I didn't raise a huge fuss and was cordial, the manager was super cool and let us choose our own gratuity. His service, for that last 15 minutes, was impeccable. We gave him 5% and a note that said "too little too late."

Brilliant. The perfect way to handle the situation. Kudos.

  3. And oooooooooour life

    wil be eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeasy

    Don't look back

    come on

    come on

    come on

Blarfel. How many times must they play that commercial?? The fact that they're advertising drugs is bad enough.

  4. When you find out that the O's game you are going to, next one for me is this Friday and you find out that Tracshel is the scheduled starter!:cussing::cussing::cussing::pain::bangwall:

Hey, look on the bright side - he may start the game, but it's not like you'll have to see him for long.

  5. Ya know, basically, ya know, essentially, actually, ya know, like I said, ya know, honestly, ya know......

Ya know, basically, you need to go gag on a sock, because, like I said, I can't stand another day of listening to you talk to clients. Honestly, ya know?

    Markakis works for your company?

  6. I had a calculus teacher who always rode his bike to school. Anyway, he was in a lane, when a car cut him off and almost killed him. So he told us the story and said, "Now I'm not proud of this, but when he did that, do you know what I did?"

We were like, "Flip him off?"

"No," he said, "I punched through his window and broke the glass."

    He was awesome.

Wow. Can you find him and bring him to the next Hangout Night? I wanna buy that guy a beer, and, more importantly, know his whereabouts and description.

  7. That sounds a lot like something your average atheist/agnostic might say about Christians. Like you are among evangelicals, I'd say DREK is part of not a minority but a quiet (not quite silent) majority of vegetarians who mostly mind their own business and don't give others a hard time. The loud, judgmental ones always manage to grab all the attention by design, which in the long run hurts the cause by scaring many away from it. This doesn't mean that a vegetarian should never talk about vegetarianism or a Christian shouldn't talk about their faith... everyone has a right to express themselves and the world is more interesting if we get exposed to each other's perspectives... there's just a fuzzy line somewhere out there between friendly sharing of what's important to you and shoving it in people's faces. Most of us accidentally cross that line at least a few times in our lives but are still well-intentioned, caring individuals.

The other reason people tend to think that everyone who holds strongly to a set of beliefs is "judgmental" is that sometimes we all tend to get our backs up when people make choices that are different from ours. How often have you heard a meat eater tease and harang a vegetarian to try to get them to eat meat... or a drinker try to cajole a teatotaler into embibing... or a non-religious person try to talk a religious friend into checking out some porn or hooking up with someone at a bar? When the person who doesn't want to engage in the action that they see as wrong for them tries to defend their own reasoning, a lot of people start to get defensive about their own indulgence in the behavior instead of just accepting that everyone has to live their life by the values they choose and we're better off if everybody has some type of values they adhere strongly to than if they had none at all.

Honestly, I am a member of the Nonya party - Nonya business what I do, and none uh mine what you do.

  8. RRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAGGGGHHH!! Playing Call of Duty 4 online, getting enough kills to get an airstrike or a helicopter and not being able to call it in cause someone reaches the kill count or time runs out

  9. I bet there's lots of vegetarians you don't know about, simply because they don't make a big deal about it. It's like anything else: it's the nuts who give the others a bad name.

And to continue that thought, the ones who feel the need to trumpet how wunderful it is and great they feel and how wrong you are to not be like them 1) should be put down and 2) are probably 'sneaking' burgers because they are obviously trying too hard. :)

he pretty much lives on Indian food, which I think is fine to eat about once a month... or every other month... or every six months... or once a year... maybe...

I could, and have. In fact, the further you get from typical 'American' cuisine, with it's focus on animal based protein, the easier it is for me to find something to eat! Indian, Afghani, Chinese, Japanese - bring it on!

And Scott - those Subway ones are put out by Morning Star Farms. They're pretty tasty, and you can find their stuff in most Superfreshes and Safeways.

  10. Chris, you're seriously in the minority. You're the only vegetarian I know who hasn't beat me over the head with reasons why my carnivourous lifestyle is dangerous/offensive/etc.

There's more of us than you think. Joylene's the same. In fact, most of the veggies I know mind their own durn business. If you ask, they'll tell you the benefits, but otherwise nothin. You just need to meet some other ones.

Can I ask why you're a vegetarian? How strict are you with it?

Why - I don't thrive eating meat. Just doesn't work for me. Didn't hate it (though seeing it doesn't do a whole lot for me) but I feel better without it. It's not about animal cruelty, but I'm ok with not contributing to that. For the record, since you're asking, I think there are plenty of people who do fine with it. I'm just not one of them. And I am married to an awesome vegan cook :)

And as far as strictness, goes, I am a bad Vegan, in that I will occasionally have some honey, and I haven't yet thrown away any leather I own. Otherwise, no animal product at all. It can be a bit troublesome at times to find food, but I treat it as a choice I made, that I see the benefits of, so I consider any obstacles worth it.

Before you ask, I'm a meat-eater because...well...I love meat and I don't discriminate much. I am, however, open to vegetarian/vegan dishes. I know a lot of meat-eatin' folk who hear the word "vegetarian" and turn up their noses. I've also switched to soy milk at home. I actually prefer the taste and texture over conventional milk.

Happy to discuss it, but I'd never ask. It's how I stay friends with so many meat eaters. ;)

As far as veggie dishes, again, I'm spoiled, because the Missus can really throw down. We ever get the Baseball Night together at Casa de Drek and you will experience the wonder and glory that is her vegan chili and cornbread. But there are some truly awful veggie burgers and the like out there. I don't blame anyone for hating the idea if they have the bad luck to try those products.

  11. Uppity vegetarians who tell you why you shouldn't eat meat.

As a non uppity vegetarian who doesn't care what other grown people choose to eat, I hate them more than you do, as they make the rest of us look bad.

  12. I have internet in Philly, but my parents' is down in Ellicott City. The slingbox is set up in their house, so I can't stream if the internet there is down.

You can make it from Philly to EC in an hour? You got a jet pack stashed somewheres?? Can I see it? Is it shiny??

  13. The internet is down at my parents' house  If it is not fixed by 5 PM, then I will miss the O's game. :002_scry:

Go buy a Sprint phone and get Gameday Audio!! Ruuuuuunn!!

  14. So much to work through!! :)

QUOTE=bobmc;1270560]Roger Daltrey, you ain't, or Freddie M either, or so you say (damn, that reminds me of a line from JC Superstar ).

My favorite show. "You started to believe, the things they say of you..."

Anyway, I'll take that disrespectful commentary as a compliment (could it be that Amaretto and coke I had last night? - no rum so any port in a storm)!

No disrespect intended! I am entertained! And that drink sounds tasty. Please bring some around.

And me and "the missus" would sure like to hear the new and improved "Chris and Joylene" show sometime when in Baltimore - like 5/16, 17 and 29, 30. Any gigs that far out in the future? Only problem is I've hated the skanks for over 50 years  - but some of my finest friends are skank fans - ya know like family up in New Yawk, etc.

Will PM you about shows. All this promotion is just getting unseemly.

And oh yeah, rep coming but you know me always repping the big boyz so I can get me a bird :002_stongue: so none left at this moment in time (did I make another "nonsensical" statement! Bald rules! ;)

That is all one need say. :D

  15. Our heat is out. Again. Granted, it's supposed to warm up this week, but I still didn't love getting up in a cold house this morning. Hmmph.

  16. You're SO pw'd! ;):P And what was it again that you DID????:confused:

Absolutely nothing useful, my friend. Plinked a guitar into a microphone while the Girl did the important stuff. Oh, and PW? Absolutely.

Isn't it great when you are blessed with one so awesome that words do not describe them? :)

It truly is. Let us never question.

And you my "wackadoo" friend are a major playuh! But thanks anyway! :002_stongue:

You know bobmc, you may be my favorite poster who manages to have a good percentage of their posts make absolutely no sense to me. :D S'cool; it's like when I listen to opera - I don't need to know what's being said. I just let it wash over me.

  17. I had to go record pretty much all day Sunday. While I was there, living out my lil rocking fantasy, what was the Missus doing? Fixing our washing machine and cutting a spot in the floor to lay tile. AND she's cute!

She's awesome. That is all :D:D:D:D:D
