  1. I'd make him as uncomfortable as possible so he's more open to a buyout. Some ideas... 1) GIve him the the bunt sign every other pitch. 2) "Accidentally" stich DAVI$ on his home jersey. 3) Make him dress / perform as the Oriole Bird on his off days. 4) Have someone in the stands post Ks every time he strikes out. 5) Ban modern day country music from the clubhouse.
  2. This seems much more realistic (for the Braves) to me then them trading for Machado. I didn't realize how loaded they are with pitching. Six guy in the top 100. Wow. Max Fried LHP (80th) Austin Riley 3B (77th) Kolby Allard LHP (54th) Ian Anderson RHP (47th) Luiz Gohara LHP (45th) Mike Soroko RHP (28th) Kyle Wright RHP (27th)
  3. I still think the Cardinals are a sleeper trade partner for us. Carpenter's best days are behind him and he's a terrible defensive player. And even with the Wainwright injury I still think they have enough pitching depth to put together a deal centered around Weaver, Flaherty, or Reyes (once C. Martinez comes back). Ask for one of those pitchers and Tyler O'Neil (OF) and offer to include Brach if that's what it takes to get the deal done. I feel like this would be pretty solid value, even though we wouldn't be getting an heir apparent at SS.
  4. Manny Was Never Going To Resign With The Orioles Ever Never Ever Ever Ever Evaaaaaaaaaaar
  5. If this is true it's a it surprising the Mariner's didn't have a plan B at 2B going into the season. Someone like Neil Walker...
  6. Not buying Didi being a by product of the ballpark huh?
  7. It's banned because it's typically used to mask performance enhancing drugs.
  8. ...use whatever we're selling to what? make the playoffs? that's not happening with or w/out Manny. The only argument to keep him is to to fill seats and that's a very short sighted reason. Because the seats that they fill this season will be empty for the next few season if they don't start thinking about the future.
  9. ...and no prospects fail 100% of the time #trademanny
  10. Did your tiny little sarcastic ego feel better after posting this?
  11. If he gets is batting avg. up a bit Hays numbers really aren't that bad. I'm fine with playing Rickard every day. In a perfect world he's take ABs away from players who are going no where in terms of helping the team long term like Alvarez and Valancia.
  12. ...and the fact that Rickard might actually be a full time candidate for the position is frightening.
  13. ...ok let me simplify this even a bit more. Getting something is rather than nothing right? For example, if someone offered you a $20 or nothing, you'd take the $20 right? Also, Santander is a cast off of from another teams farm system. Someone no one else really wanted. If we trade Machado then we'll get "actual" prospects. Will they all become superstars? Who knows, but as they say with the lottery you have to play to win.
  14. Joey Rickard being the "hot" topic speaks volumes about this team and this season.
  15. Absolutely perfect time to sell high.
  16. Read this over and over again until it sinks in. 1) We aren't winning this year with or without Machado. 2) He's not resigning with us. 3) If we trade Machado we can acquire prospects and start building for the future. If you need a real life example, ten years ago we traded Eric Bedard for Adam Jones, Chris Tillman, and George Sherrill. Adam Jones became our everyday starting center fielder and Tillman was a serviceable starting pitcher for a number of years. 4) If we don't trade him all we get a middling draft pick as compensation.
  17. If they ever make a sequel to Good Will Hunting this will be problem they put up on the blackboard.
  18. If I'm not mistaken wasn't it Cal AND Brady who didn't stay in team hotels?
  19. I loved Eddie Murray (he's probably my favorite player), but he was a complicated man. I think there's much more to the story then the fans turning on him.
  20. No I'm not. I've watched Santander make enough bone head plays in the OF to know that he's a bad defensive player. Not all bad plays show up on the box score as errors. And the difference between him and Stewart, Hays, and Mullins is that their team actually wanted them. Santander is just another team's cast off.
  21. I sure hope not. .205 AVG .244 OBP 1 HR 4 RBI 1 SB Terrible defense
  22. ...more like the spark that leads to burning the whole thing to the ground...which is what they should be doing.
  23. Wow. Within 24 hours Jace Peterson has turned into the Chuck Norris of baseball. That's quite a transformation for a guy who couldn't stick with the Yankees or the Braves, a sub .500 team the last four years.
  24. In hindsight, the Davis contract was atrocious, but resigning Trumbo (with Mancini waiting in the wings) was really the bonehead move IMO. I think it all boils down to the evaluation of talent. Signing Ubaldo...signing Davis...signing Trumbo...trading Arrieta...trading Hader...trading J.Turner, etc. This is more than a trend/bad luck. The well run teams know when to sell high / buy low and more importantly when to cut their loses. I'm not sure if it's at the executive level, management level, or scouting level, but this team doesn't seem to be very good at evaluating talent.
