  1. I've been advocating improving the pitching staff through trades (as opposed to free agency) for months. This year's free agent pitching class is weak. There's a huge drop off after the top tier. Huge.
  2. Last season was an outlyer for MIley in terms of walks if you look at his history. And I'm not trying to build him up. They're both bad pitchers. Anyone who can't see through Cashner's unsustainable mid 3s era isn't looking at the numbers.
  3. We all new this was coming (typical Oriole signing), but it still stings to see it in writing. They should have paid him more (per season) just to not be locked into him for two years.4.6 strikeouts per 9 innings IS NOT going to play well at Camden Yards. He's no better than Wade Miley and it's embarrassing that they think the average fan doesn't realize this.
  4. Point noted, but for the record I started the thread to report the signing. PS) Any chance you can fix his name in the title?
  5. The Scherzer thread bump from 2015 was particularly insightful. I mean, without it I would have had no idea what he's been up to for the last two years.
  6. Letters. Buster Olney Verified account @Buster_ESPN Source: Pitcher Ryan O'Rourke, formerly of the Twins, has agreed to terms with the Orioles.
  7. Bounce back to what? Stinking? I hear ya, but you're really grasping for straws with this one.
  8. "Reasonable minds" can differ on many things, including this. To imply that someone isn't reasonable because they have a different opinion than you is a very naive sentiment.
  9. This would be so great. I'd be curious to see how the Nationals fair with more competitive teams in their division.
  10. I would support Brian McCann being able to select the pitcher of his choice to throw a fastball at Betances' head. I guarantee you Betances' head hunting days would be over for good after that experience. Honestly, I can't think of anything more cowardly than throwing a baseball at someone. As archaic as fighting is in hockey, I can at least respect the fact that it's two men on equal terms. In baseball it's like giving one man a gun and the other a stick. MLB also needs to levy heavy fines on anyone who leaves the bench. The first fight was basically over until the bullpen pitchers came sprinting in from the OF to stir things up again. And much like umpires catchers need to go back to being seen and not heard. A catcher should never be the one instigating a fight. There's no reason a catcher needs to talk back if the batter's complaining about the strike zone. Let the umpire do his job and keep your mouth shut.
  11. It would make me feel better if you didn't respond to the thread at all (after it ran it's course). Focus on the current news...especially with the trade deadline right around the corner. I get it that this probably isn't a popular opinion for the retirement lifers who post on this board 24/7, but for the laymen who log on (when the can) to keep up with current news it would be much appreciated.
  12. Seriously people, please stop resurrecting these threads from 3 months ago. There are PLENTY of other current threads to discuss trade possibilities and current news.
