I know it's typically a thing to look at the post ASB goals, but to me the second half of the season really starts after the trade deadline, especially now that it's a hard deadline.  While the trade deadline doesn't split the season down the middle in terms of games played/games remaining, this marks the point of the season where the most changes to a roster are likely to occur aside from roster call-ups throughout the season, especially if you're a team like the Orioles.

That said, what are you looking for in the final two months at the ML (not system-wide) level?

    As far as I'm concerned:

    • Staying close to .500 as possible.  Remains to be seen if the loss of Mancini and Lopez are significant enough to knock this team off the pace but as we go along here, I want to see if .500 is something they can attain for the rest of the season.  At LEAST I'd like to see them win 70+ games.  I think that's very realistic.
    • Adley Rutschman's continued development.
    • Continued development of Mateo and Urias.  Is Mateo turning a corner?
    • Bautista in the closer role
    • Can Akin finish strong?
    • Can Mountcastle have a respectable final two months or is he a guy we're going to look to trade soon?
    • Are there any pieces to keep in this patchwork rotation?

And before anyone says they want to see Henderson, Hall, Westburg or anyone else in the top 5-10 being called up, just don't.  DO NOT.  It's not happening.  Elias isn't starting service clocks now.  You know it.  I know it.

Agree on all.  But a bit worried about how regular superstar MLB players will feel about themselves if Adley continues to “develop”.  😁

Last night, Michael King left the game very suddenly and it looked like he was nauseous.  I wrote it off to a stomach bug, food poisoning or heat exhaustion. Now it turns out he suffered a fractured elbow.   I don’t think he was hit or fell or anything.  Just a stress fracture reaching the breaking point?  In any event, ouch.

I thought nausea too especially with his cheeks blowing up like it was on its way. But I have seen (as others have I’m sure) people break a bone and then quickly get sick just from the shock and pain. I feel bad for him but also glad we won’t have to face him anymore this year!

Next we just need to get to 60-61 and then bring a cardboard cutout of Louis Angelos into the clubhouse to peel a section off with every win

Have to post it, just have too!

Not sure if this counts, but Tobias Myers was DFA'd by Cleveland. He was the minor league pitcher we traded to Tampa for Tim Beckham. I wonder if Elias will pluck him off waivers. He' only 23 and has options and had pretty good numbers up until his run in AAA this season.

He got spiked by pitchers cleat, looks like did not wreck hand diving into bag.   Hopefully just flesh and blood.

Ah, thanks.    Sounded worse on the radio.

I'm the same on placing the runner on 2B in extra innings, from a purist standpoint... But BOY does it make an exciting game out of it! I have to admit I like it.

Yea I was against both at first but no need for bullpen depleting 18 inning games (or rare when it would happen) and it does add intrigue.   But the 7 inning games suck!

How has he earned it? He’s presiding over potentially the worst team in ML history and had a couple of other clunker years. It sounds like he’s got an option for next year. How is it possible to justify exercising that option in this scenario?

I feel the answer is in your question.  He maybe deserves a chance with talent which should be able to achieve something?

If it would somehow be definable he is responsible for this level of play, then I would think otherwise.   But he’s been given this hand to play and it’s all low cards?

I personally like Hyde and would like him to have a chance with a better quality team.  If the players are producing and the team is still losing then yea, he’s isn’t deserving in my opinion.  He has not been given that chance yet.

Edit:  I also have not been watching much.   I’ve heard about the lack of fundamentals.   But often execution depends on the player and what said player is capable of.

I do not expect Hyde to be the manager when Elias decides to switch gears and attempts to start winning.

I think he's here to caretake the tank years.

Gotchya.   And possible.  Probable?  I don’t know, but just would like to see how he does with a true MLB quality team.   And think he’s earned that.

I think that if they replace Hyde they will be showing that they are entering stage 2 of the process and attempting to win games.

This is your postulating on what the general fan base will think.   Not what you truly think right?

I am hoping to see how Hyde does with some equitable talent.
