  1. If you can believe it, Chris Davis' K rate is better this year compared to last year. Last year's 37.2% is the worst among qualified batters all time. This year's 35.8% is fourth.
  2. Just an update: Davis is now at 212 PAs, so we can move the minimum PA count to 210. His OPS also slid ten points to .473. That puts him at a two way tie for 22nd worst OPS in a season for the last 50 years. 15,126 unique seasons qualify for these parameters. He is 241st/29885 all time.
  3. Things Ambien doesn’t make you do: -be racist -hit a baseball
  4. Chris Davis' money has nothing to do with Manny Machado leaving the team.
  5. With three more plate appearances last night, Chris Davis crosses over the 200PA threshold. He's up from .480 to .483, but moves from 40th to 39th lowest OPS by any player with 200PA in the last 50 years. Some other notable Oriole performances: Mark Belanger's 1972 season is 35th (.482) Rick Dempsey's first year joining the Orioles in 1976 is 25th (.466) Juan Bell's 1991 as a utility infielder for the O's is 12th (.450) Angels top prospect (and former Oriole farmhand) Brandon Wood's 2010 with the Angels is the absolute worst; .382 OPS over 243 PAs.
  6. There’s two players in the bottom 50 that hit 400PA; one is Mario Mendoza. And yes, Chris Davis has the worst OPS for a 1B in that span.
  7. Since 1969 (50 years), minimum 190PA, Davis has the 40th lowest OPS. There are 16,000 individual seasons on this list. Think about that.
  8. I actually meant the Horse Racing triple crown. Flaherty has a better shot at that I think.
  9. The Braves cut Bautista, so there’s a window of opportunity here for Flash to attain the Triple Crown.
  10. I was like “what is hit by pitch medicine?”
  11. Curious if you’ve seen him in person. Is it that he’s not that defensively gifted or does he just have great range that leads to more plays on difficult balls?
  12. Mr. Poche is one of the PTBNL in the Steven Souza trade between Tampa Bay and Arizona.
  13. Our old friend Luis Hernandez retired today. I know you're shocked. In 2008 the Orioles trotted out five different shortstops: Alex Cintron, Freddie Bynum, Brandon Fahey, Juan Castro, and "Little Luis". They combined for 635 plate appearances in the infield, amassing a WAR of ... **drumroll**... -5.0. That has to be the worst combined performance at (mostly) a single position in history.
  14. That .444 BABIP is going to crash hard into the ground. Then Jose Bautista will take his job.
  15. Our old pal Brandon Snyder, 1st round pick from 13 years ago (!!) getting another call up for the Rays.

  17. They are both filler, so I’m not sure it matters. Outside of Mountcastle (who is hurt) there’s very little 3B prospect depth. For this reason, either could potentially get a cup of coffee one day but a “Feliz vs Dosch” isn’t really a conversation worth having.
