If I were a major league pitcher, I'd have to have some sort of weird euphus or knuckleball or something like that for these at bats.  If we get to 8, 9, 10 pitches, I'm throwing that thing, and this at bat is going to end, one way or another... I'm not pitching to you all night 😆

  2. Coming into this game, I KNEW we'd win. As Frobby referenced, the O's have been pretty damn good on opening day. But what a great start to a new era of Orioles baseball! The ownership group has to be very happy with its investment after today.

Corbin Burnes was simply incredible. I'm still a little bummed Bradish wasn't able to start against the team that drafted him. He certainly earned the OD start after last year. Hoping he gets healthy enough to pitch later this year.

Anyone running into issues avoiding the blackout?  When I turn on my VPN (Nord VPN)  it blocks me from accessing my subscription and when the VPN is on I'm blacked out.

Is there a workaround for this?

If you can change your location by state, make sure it's nowhere near Baltimore's Market. You might even be able to try using another country like UK or italy.

  4. I'm not surprised by the move, but I'm definitely not happy with it. I think he's certainly proven to be better than some of the guys that are staying on the ml roster. I'm hoping that there will be a last minute move to bring him back up on opening day. I think Jackson has a great opportunity to win Rookie of the Year and bring the organization an additional high draft pick. I think we have a couple of guys who could actually do that. I'm at least happy that we probably won't have Wong on the team.

But trusting a guy who had a career year at 30 and had never even approached being a league average hitter is a better option?

Was last year the first year they banned the shift? I vaguely remember reading an article where the author predicted which players would see the most positive regression due to the elimination of the shift and O'Hearn was near the top. That could certainly play a part in his late blooming.

Watch Joey Ortiz become one of the top fielding shortstops in baseball. Like Bradish said after Ortiz made that phenomenal diving catch. (To paraphrase) - "I've seen him do that time after time coming up in the minors. We've gotten used to it. He's a security blanket back there."

I get it. But it wouldn't happen here. He's buried.

I like the trade because we're in a win now window. Ask me a few years ago and I would have said I'd rather keep the youngins, but we have a real shot in 2024 and Burnes could be a huge part of that.

Here is the thing.  And this will never happen but if I am Angelos and I am going to sell the team?  I 1000% do this.  Sign Ohtani to a 5 year contract for $xxx...or at least try to.

First of all, since you are selling the team you will not pay for most of the contract.

But secondly, Ohtani is a HUGE draw for Asian Americans and will increase the market cap of your team by I am guessing $400 M to $700 M.    When my wife and I went to the Orioles Angels game last Sept I am guessing at least 1/3 of the crowd was there to see him.  Maybe more.  I saw so many Asians there it was crazy.  Which was great btw as my wife is a hot Asian and many of the Asians there were women.  :)

Anyway the point is, of course overall there are more Asians located in Orange county CA compared to Baltimore, but if you add the surrounding DC and NYC area?   I bet it is pretty comparable.  Not only is the crowd attendance going to go up but so will the publicity.  And that makes the value of the team go up.

If I am PA I try and do this 100%

Not to mention the Legacy of bringing him to Baltimore.
