Nunez and Ruiz showing some pop. Alberto is a guy that seems like he is always going to get a hit. Iglesias is Mr. Double.  Hays still looks like he will break out.  No one seems like an automatic out.  I am conflicted because I think we still need to lose, but it’s fun watching guys not being constantly overmatched.

I'm finding myself really looking forward to games these days. I really like what I've seen from Ruiz, Nunez, Iglesias, and Alberto.

But Stewart looks like an automatic out to me.

He went from a fingernail injury on his left hand to a broken bone in his right wrist...

    That...Seems strange.

    I thought so too.

Yeah, it does sound weird. I would assume he has both injuries. At first they could only tell that he had some kind of fingernail injury probably because they could actually SEE that one. Maybe his wrist was a little sore at the time, but they obviously didn't do an x-ray right there on the field.

I remember I broke my wrist in college and thought it was just a sprain. I didn't go to the doctor for about a week. Eventually I went in and had to have emergency surgery lol. I had no idea it was broken.

Hopefully he has a speedy recovery, but a wrist injury is no bueno. Takes time to heal, then rehab. Then you can try to play again. Might not be enough time for him this year.

    With a .600 OBA!?

    And .780 slugging?

    Nope.

I'm just saying with a full season, his numbers COULD have slipped. Or maybe he suffers a major injury. He was easily #1 on my board based on what we know. And I agree, he was still a good bet to remain there with a full season. But crazy things can happen

Certainly interesting that they seem to really buy into their projections for '20. This year is obviously an anomaly and given how much tends to change regarding prospect rankings between one year and the next it's impossible to say what they "should" have valued more.

I'm fairly confident that if the full season played out the top 10 rankings from BA and other sources would have differed a good bit from where they ended up. It's possible Kjerstad would have still be ranked around 8-10th, but he could also have made a Bleday-like jump. Not saying he's the most likely candidate to improve his stock -- the same could be said for many of the other top prospects.

Tork's stock could've dropped, too. Lots of things could've changed if this virus hadn't hit. It's certainly gotta be one of the more difficult years for scouts.

Go to 0:42 in this video. Mundy hits a grandslam.  Nice replay view afterwards.  I like his hands in the set up and load.  Head stayed down, hits against his front side pretty well.  Bat stayed in the zone for a while.

That was a fun watch. Thanks for posting!

    Man, I miss baseball ?

Taking Kjerstad over Martin was lunacy! Period! We passed on the BPA due to a strategy of hoping to hit on a 4th or 5th rounder.

Lunacy seems a bit strong. I respect your opinion though.

In my opinion, there's no Adley Rutschman-level talent this year. Martin certainly doesn't get my juices flowing. He could be a decent enough player, but doesn't strike me as a can't miss or impact guy.

I preferred Lacy at 2. But I'm content with improving the 4th and 5th round selections by taking Kjerstad.

The more I read and watched video of Hunter Haskin, the more I kinda like him. That swing if fugly, no doubt, but the guy can rake and he's got enough speed and defensive ability to play all three outfield positions. If he can develop into 20 homer power, .280-.290/.340-.350 OBP guy, he's a solid major league starting outfielder, particularly in center field.

His arm has accuracy issues, but it's solid to even above average according to most sources but I don't think the arm will end up a detriment or an asset.

Add in the SB ability and you're describing Ramon Laureano. I would be happy with that.

"During Haskin’s freshman campaign, he received 245 plate appearances and produced 19 doubles, four triples, 10 home runs, 52 RBI’s, a 10.6% walk rate, 11.8% strikeout rate along with a slashing line of .372/.459/.647/1.106.

    ....

Along with these stellar results, the right-handed batter carried his performance into this spring and was on pace to record more walks than strikeouts. In total, the power-hitting righty earned 84 plate appearances and created six doubles, one triple, one home run, 14 RBI’s, a 16.7% walk rate, 11.9% strikeout rate, and a slashing line of .333/.452/.500/.952."

The MLB Network comp was Kyle Schwarber. Kyle Schwarber isn't even an everyday baseball player, so I really hope the team sees something there that the rest of the world does not.

I don't remember who it was, but they also mentioned Todd Helton. Perhaps that's based on the swing?

Helton kept his hands high, but they both have that high leg kick.
