I told my wife about that catch and and she said, "You mess with the bull, you get the horns"

That was a gift ball 3 there.

They'll all be drowned by the time they decide to stop this.

That changed win expectancy from 66% to about 40-ish%

Burnes only at 81 pitches. Have to think that he starts the sixth. Would be nice if the guys would see some pitches and give him a little break.
-
Alright guys, let's get those back.
-
Felt like Burnes started pitching to contact with the larger lead. It didn't go well.

Mateo would probably be the primary shotstop and and Holliday would have had a longer leash and maybe came out of his slump and stayed up and won the 2B job.
As long as we're playing alternate universe games.
O'Hearn running on the pitch with 2 outs and can't score on the double?
Once a ground rule double leaves play, the runners are restricted to two bases. O' Hearn hadn't cleared second yet because Mountcastle lasered the ball to the outfield at half the speed of light.

Gunnar flexing on Flexen! crazy oppo power lately

Mateo saved a run there. Very nicely done.

Happening for me too. I keep hearing about how superior the Apple broadcast is and the only real upgrade is the 1080P picture.
Hey, you've got one up on me, I've got the radio feed and gameday tonight.
Oh, by the way, the radio guys said earlier that there's an option in the Apple TV broadcast to watch the game with the radio audio. Maybe it'll work out better?- 1

Looked like Cedric missed one dead center down the middle

Dontrelle Willis calling Gunnar Henderson's defense almost Jeteresque makes me want to turn this broadcast off.
I still have no idea why people think that Jeter was a good defender. He absolutely wasn't

This storm is dissipating and I doubt there will be a single drop on the ballfield before the game starts.
We're getting really thin on starters and rest for the solid parts of our bullpen. I'm appreciative of them delaying the start a little bit so that we don't burn a starter two innings in tonight.

If anyone wants to listen to the game while doing other stuff online:

They called the infield fly rule, so the hitter was out regardless of whether Henderson caught it. So to call interference on a play that was essentially already ruled dead makes no sense to me.
The ball isn't dead when the IF fly rule is called.
The batter's just out. That's it. The runners can advance after the ball touches the fielder or the ground and it's fair... so it's still important to control the baseball in that situation, and why you still can't interfere with a fielder making a play on an IF-fly-ruled pop-up.- 2

Those Mariners don’t waste any time. 101? I think I saw him hit 99 once with the Orioles. Did he ever touch 100? Now he’s hitting 101? The trade adrenaline must have kicked in.
I think he was talking about EV, not pitch velocity.

Hey, the shirt just says future Orioles, which definitely happened... it makes no claims, however, about them being in the organization longer than the next fifteen minutes.

I remember the season about ten-ish years back when Adam Jones had walked twice by the All-Star Break, but still finished around his normal total by year's end. Struck me as really weird, watching him do that in the first half and then walk all the time in the last.

Flush it. We haven’t been swept in two years so we’ve forgotten that good teams have bad stretches sometimes. That blew, but forget it and move on.
Silver lining is we can stop hearing about the streak.
Yep. Forget about it and move on. The guys certainly will, and will be looking to beat the everloving snot out of the doormats they're playing the next four games.

Hyde obviously knew rains were coming, hence holding Irvin back. Hope he can go deep.
I wish the Cardinals folks who made the decision to start the game with a massive rainstorm an hour out would have sensed that as well, so that they wouldn't have prematurely started this one early and burned the starters.

Did Colton drop a swear bomb when he got splashed just then?

Why is Cano warming? Let Irvin finish this, or if you insist on playing by the save rule, go to Kimbrel
Mariners have three righties in a row coming up in the 9th. Irvin's equipped to handle it, but matching up with a righty would be a valid call as well.
