For sure. That was my point, it's ridiculous to laugh at the potential of getting Devers. I'd be thrilled in a vacuum, but this team needs a lot of good young players, not one really ground young players imo.
Not anything groundbreaking, but Fanrag hypothesizes that Machado would consider extending with the Cubs.

I still don't love what they would have to offer, but perhaps a deal centered around Baez and others (Alzolay who is now injured plus a few others). Still meh on the Cubs though and again, this appears to be Heyman speculation.
This is where I am right now. It's truly remarkable. I mean, if he was OPS'ing in the mid .600s, we'd all be angry and saying he isn't worth his contract, etc. but this is just mystifying.
I would bench him for the rest of the series and try to convince him to accept an assignment to AAA.
What a complete and utter waste. He's Brandon Fahey bad.
I like Cobb. Even when he was struggling, I figured he'd be fine and eventually will get his ERA for this year into the mid-4s at least. He'll be a good innings eater to have over the next 3.5 years if he isn't traded.
I mean.. he's good at what he does... he mashes left handed pitching. He's not good as in an all-star caliber player or even a regular starter. But for what he is, he is good.
Honestly. Shut the heck up Davis. You have no right to give "leadership-type" quotes like that. Shut up and figure out why you're hitting .156 and OPSing in the .400s.
Because they can't keep him. It sucks that they can't, but they can't. So "dumping" him for young controllable players yields (usually) a much better future than playing out the string for him and losing him for nothing.
Wayyyyyyy too early to say Santander has not panned out. I still have high hopes for him, and a meh month and a half won't change that.
And the "most of ours dont pan out" excuse doesn't mean the Orioles shouldn't acquire young controllable players. Jones and Tillman panned out, as wildbill astutely posted.
You are seemingly criticizing him (stat padding) for hitting home runs when the game is out of hand. I say, hit as many home runs when a game is out of hand as you can.
Random, but my Cubs-fan friend sent me these pics of Cashner in 2011 before he was traded for Rizzo. Clean shaven young lad, funny to look at now. I for one love (and respect) the Cashner beard.
