Cowser .111 and .444 OPS Difference is Hicks has produced at a high level in the majors as recently as a month ago .. unlike the rookie who may not figure it out till next April.

Hicks is playing much better than the rookie to date. I think Westburg getting more time will mean Urias will be worse, Frazier will be worse when and if they come off the bench.. and then there is Mateo.. Mountcastle.. it is not clear where this goes over next month at all.

I would be playing Hicks, Santander, Hays exclusively till Mullins is back . I am not going with Cowser for the TB series etc. and he would go back to Norfolk if and when we need to bring up another arm(we are at 14 position players and 12 pitchers because Mullins is not on IL) Preferably we would trade for another bat but Elias isn’t doing that .. see multiple threads as to that, but the focus seems to be pitching.. if we do anything at all .. which remains to be seen. actually at my age, you get a bit less patience to “wait til next year” lol

I get that .. I understand.. i saw rookies come up in the 1960s, 70s, 80s, 90s etc. What I am saying is we can’t just always totally be rigidly adhering to a plan of bringing up and developing the prospects as the only tool in the toolbox when we find ourselves ahead of a winning schedule. I am patiently waiting to see if this team gets any other reinforcements or they just go with the current squad.

Some of it is just hitter/team adjustment and Cano needs to adjust back a bit but I think his stuff and control are still excellent. Good news is still no walks in last 5.

He has not had a hitless inning in last 5 appearances and has given up run in 3 of those 5

Those kind of guys are part of what needs to be upgraded if we are going to win this but yeah they can be used that way sure
