  6. Wow, this discussion has run off the rails. The point I was trying to make is that the ballpark is not ready to provide a good customer experience during the playoffs. We hear the organization (ownership) talk about the customer experience and I think it has been established here that it is lacking at OPACY. YES, my son, myself and my friends CHOSE TO EAT AT THE BALLPARK, I just think the wait time needs to be decreased especially when we are on the National stage of the post-season. This was never meant to be a referendum or bitch session about prices, food quality/temperature, etc. FWIW, I work in a local Baltimore hospital so I know high-priced, low quality food. It also was not intended to be a discussion of work ethic, minimum wage and post-COVID economic issues; there are many other forums for those discussions. What I find most disappointing in reading the responses was the personal attacks aimed at some who expressed dissatisfaction with the ballpark. SMH I wrote the original observation as both a fan and contributor to this site. I thought all of Birdland would want the Orioles to shine both on and off the field during the playoffs, that's all.

  8. Thanks @FrobbyI was going to mention that but like you, don't know what became of that lawsuit.
  9. I think he took a page out of the Edward Bennett Williams playbook. Remember when he said attendance needed to improve or the team might move. John must have been thinking that the "threat" of Nashville relocation would bully the state to pay for his ambitions and hence his personal profit. He over played his hand and has sullied the team's 2023 season with his interviews and actions recently. In the end, he's a typical owner who wants to use public funds to generate his personal profit.
  10. I must admit, I'd expect better from a Ripken owned team. Ther doesn't seem to be much effort being put forth to promote the team or its Orioles affiliation. There is hardly any social media presence. From my perspective as the summaries writer, there are very few video highlights posted on-line. Most game day feeds/posts consist of silly cartoon GIFs. I could do a better job running their Twitter account than they do, in my humble opinion. I agree with the assessment that the Ripkens may have lost interest. Billy is on MLB Network as an analyst now more than ever. It just seems that all that is wanted to occur is to put the Ripken name on a field/facility. It's sad because the facility in Aberdeen is very nice and was built to standards above the NYPL level at the time. The "if you build it, they will come" approach does not work. You have to reach out to your audience, promote yourself and make the experience a good one. The Ironbirds have to do a better job.
