I hate that Hyde does that. If you're going to pull a pitcher if the first guy gets on, just let the reliever have a clean inning. If you're going to send Bradish out, let Bradish pitch

If O'Hearn can....
can is a dubious assertion there, and I don't think he's been asked to play LF at Camden Yards, which is what I was thinking about

Wonder if Ortiz or Urias can ply OF

I get the call, that's why you see Adley set up in front of the plate, he was definitely blocking, and there wasn't really anywhere for Austin to slide...but the ball clearly beat him and he was definitely out. That's a hard call to swallow if you're the Rockies for sure

Great throw, bad baserunning

Wait wait, what is wrong with these guys? Wearing the same socks is gross, but it's waay less gross then constantly wearing the underwear

Pro football doc on Twitter basically said he’s going to need TJ surgery. Now obviously his background is more football. But his point was with how hard Bautista throws, even if he doesn’t have surgery now, he’ll need to at some point

Felix Bautista is/was important in the regular season, but the team would've been good even without him. Top flight relievers who can go multiple innings are incredibly important in the playoffs

I posted the below after his first start. It’s in this very thread if you go to the first or second page:
His average velocity on his FB:
2018 90.2
2019 91.9
2020 93.9
2021 92.9
2022 92.3
Again, not concerned with his velo right now.
In 2018 Means pitched 3 innings and had a 13+ ERA. In every other year he avg fb velocity has been ~92+. His game isn't velocity based, but you need enough velocity to keep guys honest, and to make your breaking stuff play up. 2 MPH difference doesn't sound like a lot, but it is. If Mean has an avg fb velocity of 90, then that's going to make it much harder for him at the ML level. This isn't a long term conversation, this is a what happens in the next couple starts in September conversation. If you think he's going to add a couple mph of velocity between now and his next start, ok. But that seems doubtful, so I personally am not really counting on him at the ML level until his FB velocity increases.

I’m not concerned with his velocity. That will come with more outings. That 72 pitches though supports my theory that he could be in line to start next Friday. They’ve increased his pitches each outing. The next tier would be 90-100. I think he could start with Irvin potentially piggybacking him.
I'm not concerned with it long term. But if you want him to start on Friday, it needs to be back now. Don't really have time to give him outings at the ML level in a playoff race

How many pitches last night for Meansy?
72. FB velocity was only 90.8. At Triple-A level he can still get guys out, but probably needs to regain a few MPH to be as effective at the major league level

I understand people downplaying this alittle. That’s a common human defense mechanism. But this is really really bad news.
Yeah, just feel like the official metaphorical axe is going to fall later today. The Orioles have some other good relievers and options, but Bautista isa special closer. Those are hard to replace, especially in the post season. Fuji probably has the best pure stuff

There are scooters in the downtown area, and a protected bike lane, so if you're cruising around the harbor it's a good option. If you want water during the game definitely bring in some bottled water. If you're looking to do something fun before the game, top golf is fun with a group.
I usually bring food, or pick up a sandwich in fells/little Italy.
The stadium has some good food, it's just not cheap. As someone already mentioned, Vida Taco's behind home plate is good tacos, you can get 3/15. The rotating local stand that's on the third base side is also good. They have fuzzy burgers this weekend. The beer selection is good, but pricy. The Taco place also has margheritas. They also have all your normal hard seltzers.

Who said Cedric can't throw?!

6 IP and 3 R is better then I expected from Gibson. Time for the bullpen to do its job

If Hyde didn't want Bautista to go 2, it would have made more sense to have Bauman pitch the 9th. Facing the bottom of the order vs the heart, and no runner on second

This is batting practice. Baumann demoted for Hall tomorrow?

Why is Baumann pitching

That was a good play

McKenna really should be able to steal here

Hyde's pitching staff management continues to baffle me. Obviously, for the most part this year it's worked out
