Sorry if I missed this somewhere else but admittedly, I haven't followed the team as closely this year as I have in the past. But yesterday they had the team jersey day. I cannot figure out who was wearing the Auburn jersey in the full team picture.

I don't disagree. It is painful. I just don't think it's easy to justify.

If he was the one person holding the team back, I would say maybe but there are so many broken pieces of this puzzle that I don't know if I could argue that it's worth it to eat the contract.

Anyone calculated what the HR pace is for the season?

I still have a little speed, I can catch a flight ball, I enjoy the game, and will play for the league minimum. I'm just saying...

So I haven't been connected with the forum much lately but have been watching as much as I can. What the general consensus, is there anything this team does well? I know we have a little more speed than we've been having.

So you're telling me a guy who led the team in walks, had the lowest SO percentage, was 2nd among regulars in OBP, and I think about 3rd in average can't even be in the discussion? Personally, I think you would have had to give that title to Pearce last year. I just don't think you could dismiss him as that bad. I guess I put a lot of weight with making contact and getting on base/taking walks while others would look at OPS and other stats. For the record, I'm not a Markakis loyalist. I was appreciative of his time with us and I was a little sad (and surprised) to see him go. I didn't really think it was a good idea to offer a guy who is having neck surgery even a 3 year deal, but that's a discussion for another topic. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Depending on how you look at it, you could have made the argument he might have been our best hitter. Not saying he was, but just looking at making contact/low strikeouts/good eye he would have been near the top for us last year. Now if you're looking from a power perspective, he would have been near the bottom obviously. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I'm with you on this. I was livid that we gave up a 20 point lead. I was livid they couldn't see that Murray was stopped just short of the goal line. I'm still not confident in how we'll fare against UA, but it has definitely ramped up the iron bowl big time this year.

I think we're definitely seeing the corner being turned. I think players are starting to get it in their heads that these aren't the dominant teams they usually are. Once you have the competition believing you are beatable, you've lost that extra edge. There's a lot to be said for the mental aspect of any game.

Born in 83....11 days before game 5 of the WS. Also the year Brooksie was inducted into the HoF. When you're born named Brooks, you don't have any choice do you? I also got to grow up watching Cal. On top of all that, I really didn't want to pull for the local team (Braves).
