We beat the Royals 24 times in a row. That was over 3 seasons, 1969, 1970 and 1971. We lost the first game in 69 then won 11 straight that season. Swept all 12 in 70 and won the first game in 71.
Well for one thing I never said Manny didnt have a fast time running from 2nd to home. I never questioned that. What I did say was that he had no buisness looking behind him to see where the ball was going. That slowed him down. I also said that he slowed down coming around 3rd and than had to kick it into a higher gear.
As far as the 6-3 185 comment. That was in response to the "big man" comment. Without question he is not 185 that was kind of a smart a$$ remark to the big man comment. Also without question nobody is going to call him a big man.
Typical reply. What was he looking at when the ball was hit before he started running hard? There were 2 outs. The only thing he should have looked at was the 3rd base coach. By the way, Manny is listed as 6-3 185. Lorenzo Cain is listed at 6-2 205. Now I am sure the comeback will be "that hasnt been updated in years, blah blah blah". People keep finding excuses for this guy. Just watch with an open mind.
It was bush league. Just like Manny. All you Manny lovers can slobber all over him but he is bush league. When he scored the winning run last night he slowed down for an instant around third and just beat the throw.
Kole Calhoun is having a worse year than Davis. Calhoun is batting .145 and has OPS of .376. Calhouns oWar is -1.9 compared to Davis at -1.6. I should probably have posted this in the Positive vibes only thread but it is buried several pages back and didnt want to bump it:)
How big of a surprise would it be if it came out that Cal was using Peds? If I had to guess gun to head I would say no but I would spend some time thinking about it.
Not arguing with you just discussing. There are outs and there are bad outs. And perception is a lot of it. How many times has Jones been thrown out at second because he stood at the plate thinking he had a homer? How many times has Jones made the last out trying to go from first to third?
Also where can I find the stats for number of times a runner has been thrown out. That would be interesting to look at.
How many times has Adam Jones been thrown out by a "ridiculous margin". I am sure it happens but I dont remember many mistakes by Jones. We don't have a thread on hear titled Adam Jones base running. Alomar made some stupid decisions on the bases but not to the extent that Manny does.
Why would the Nationals be playing more competitive teams in the proposed division? The same motley bunch they currently play would be included except for the Mets and they add Pttisburgh, Tampa, Cincy and us.
If you have an "eastern" division that has to include the New York teams and Boston.
Since his first two starts he has pitched 33.2 innings and given up 42 hits, 12BB, 27ER, 25K, 6HR with an ERA of 7.22. Maybe teams are getting a good book him.
