  1. Vavra looked awful on that? What is his value to the team?
  2. That was even exciting having to listen to it on the radio broadcast. Reminded me of carrying my transistor around when a kid.
  3. I am pretty far away from the Baltimore area and honestly know very little about the Angelos ownership except what I read on here. After looking up our payroll for this year, approximately 61 mill and second lowest to Oakland, and figuring in additional operating costs for a mlb team, is there a guess as to how much profit the ownership group makes on a payroll like we have. Is that information available to be guessed at roughly, or is it totally secret information?
  4. This is just an observation from watching, nothing else, but it often looks like he is swinging a heavy bat with how late he is on fastballs sometimes, even those around 93-94 mph which he should be crushing. It just doesn't seem normal to me that a young athletic guy is swinging late on even medium velocity fastballs.
  5. I wish I had seen Grayson pitch before he got hurt last year in the minors. Many posters on here who did see him before the injury say he hasn't been the same since.
  6. I haven't been posting for a long time, but one of the best things about this board is the wealth of knowledge about the modern game that many posters have. I'll throw an observation or opinion in sometimes but I mainly try to absorb stuff from the really knowledgable guys. And it's a good thing I'm not the GM, I would have written Santander off as washed up early in the season and traded him for almost anything, and given Mateo a 120 mill extension...lol.
  7. I'd rather have high strikes called than balls off either edge of the plate.
  8. Silseth has had some interesting throws this game...lol.
  9. I have no idea what Gausman was rated as a pitching prospect, but he was the first pitcher taken in the 2012 draft, and after a few innings in his ML debut against the Blue Jays, some baseball writer that I can't remember tweeted out that we were looking at the pitcher with the best stuff in the majors (meaning Gausman). Of course he imploded and we went on to lose that game handily. Regardless, he was well thought of at the time. I had never seen GRod pitch until his first ML start this year, and after a few innings I said that he reminded me of Kevin Gausman, but maybe a little better. I am for giving him a long leash, but right now he looks like Gausman 2.0 to me. A lively fastball that overpowers hitters at times, but less than great command of secondary pitches that he leaves over the heart of the plate too often that wind up getting crushed. I still think that he will turn out better than Kevin, and maybe significantly, but time will tell and I hope we give him a long leash to figure it out.
  10. Completely agree, after I posted I realized that I was talking about player development, but if we are trying to win every game possible this year, it may indeed be best to replace him for now with a better option.
  11. Unless we have someone who is unquestionably better than Grayson, or he totally falls apart, I don't see the benefit in sending him down. Whatever he needs to learn or work on imo is best done for him now at the major league level.
  12. Yeah, if you see a sweeper coming right at you start swinging, it's going top end up over the plate. But hope it's not a fastball instead.
