If we didn’t play so many “close games,” Hyde probably would use Cano down 1. But give that the O’s oh-so-rarely bury the other team, Hyde is forced to spread innings around so he doesn’t kill his guys. He didn’t run Vespi out there just to get work. He did it because he’s got 5 more games to play this week with no day off and he’s got to find some sort of balance in that.

All told, not an awful start for Gibson. He battled through clearly not having his best stuff, and it should really be 3-3 through 6.

Hey, nothing but respect for Nellie. He was a good Oriole and has had a helluva career. Defied many, many expectations by staying productive for as long as he has.

He was checked out, clearly hadn’t even considered there might be an aggressive runner on the base paths. Total lack of concentration, absolutely unacceptable.

Two quality starters in season essentially cleans out the upper tier of our prospect core. Not undoable, but costly.

I mean we only had him for 1.5 seasons, and he didn’t hit great with the Phillies in the other half. Then he signed a deal back home in South Korea. I think he was what he was.

Further, “clutch” hitting is simply luck. The idea that these guys “just aren’t clutch hitters” is an idea from a bygone era.

It’s for the best to just ignore Webbrick’s posts, trust me.

That last line is the important part. Some of the guys we ship off - even some of the guys that aren’t as heralded right now - will have decent careers. It’s just how it goes. You just have to hope that what you got in return was worth it.

If you just read the game threads you’d assume we lose every game by 100 and that the entire team got hurt. They’re a quagmire.

We all hope to see John Means pitch meaningful innings this year, but the guy’s basically at the point of “maybe playing catch.” We have no idea what condition he’ll be in when he actually starts throwing. I don’t know that he can be counted on for anything.

As fan voting goes, this isn’t uncommon. They’re Canada’s only team. They have an enormous fanbase on that alone.

All anyone talks about? More like it’s what a small group of very vocal people won’t ever shut up about on a message board. I rarely if ever hear the run of the mill fan scathingly demand that the Orioles call up their prospects.
