Bear with me. I'm trying to be negative here. Not logical. Please.

I had the six Norfolk games they are in Durham this week (where I live) on my calendar for months. Now I have something come up (some very good gigs mostly) every day except Sunday, the last game. Of course, I know if I go Sunday, Westburg and who knows else may possibly be in Baltimore by then. Grayson is pitching tomorrow.

He comes from good stock.

I've noticed his manner all year. I have been calling him MountCasual for months. Other than Mark Reynolds, he's the most relaxed and loose ball player I've seen in ages. Cue the sunflower seed images.

The folks behind the plate are wildly enthusiastic considering the score in the bottom of the 9th and two outs.

Sort of on par with stealing a base in a blowout.

Girl of the Golden Vest came immediately to mind when I saw him come in.

I grew up a Colts and Cowboys fan (getting that electric football set the year after their Super Bowl clash didn't hurt when I was 10), but I always admired Bud Grant. And a great running back from my college, Ted Brown, was in their backfield for awhile. And dug their defensive line of the late 60s and into the 70s.

When it's your night, you just make ridiculous plays like that. I could have hit fungos to him all afternoon and he'd make that once if at all.

I used to like this cartoon. Not anymore.

Too bad Aguilar did not get that one. John The Baptist would have had that.

I heard a stat early in the game quoted by Ben, I guess. Said the O's averaged 3.5 runs in the last 26 games. But still found a way to be 14-12 in that time frame. Sounds like the O's were winning those low scoring games at the beginning of that period. Because, I agree. They have not felt like a solid club for awhile.

Looks like we'll get men on base eventually, but then this will happen.

Was busy with something and thought, ok - down 1-0. We've been there before. Didn't expect to get kicked in the family jewels before I could even get a beer out of the fridge. I think the liquor store is open another 40 minutes.

That was almost my same thought verbatim (see below) in the game thread prior to that at bat. He's the guy you want there. And doggone it, he delivered.

This game has gone from blah Sunday game with hardly any interest to almost a playoff feel (even though our slim chances have taken such a shot). I never expected this much drama today.

We did not order this drama - send it back!

If it ever did (heaven forbid - not today) come to that, I'd love to see a bat in Bautista's hands. What would he use? A 47 inch bat?
