I haven’t studied the matter, but I’m not sure I believe the calculation in that article.   I’d think that if Fangraphs itself believed it, they’d change the valuations they publish for position players.    But they haven’t done so.

PS - Note that the article was using data from 2006 to 2017.   Per Fangraphs, the value of 1 WAR in 2006 was $4.8 mm.   So $5.7 mm for position players over that entire 12 year period is more plausible.    That doesn’t tell you what the market rate is today.

It’s likely not a very simple calculation using real-time data, so it must be pieced together using years prior when all the variables are known.

I would imagine that each team can better individually keep track of this within the organization, so it migh5 be something in Sig’s “Matrix”, or somehow come into play during negotiations and payrolls, but maybe not...

    Armstrong showing some leadership...

I agree with this.  There is a time and place.  Obv Bleier just coming out of a tough outing on the dugout steps is not the time nor place imo.

Bleier probably made a comment, and Flores decided to go after him. Coaches should know better. If Flores had a problem with Bleier take it up with him after the game. Don’t do it in full view of everyone watching.

  4. I mean....besides suck again...

What did he do when he was pulled from the game?  I heard the announcers talking about it, but I did not see what happened.

More frustration boiling over, I guess, but Bleier has completely sucked a lot this year.

Sorry for calling him an idiot.

What about Hyde’s decision to leave DJ Stewart in the game as well?

Just to point out the irony... Calling Hyde an idiot is “too tough”, but Hyde risking our players physical health is just “testing them”.

Hyde also got into a very public dust up with Chris Davis. I guess that’s ok because it’s the whipping boy Chris Davis.

Let’s just say Hyde isn’t making the best of decisions over the last couple of weeks.

    He is a rookie manager.

He wants all these guys to succeed, so maybe he lets them play the game they love for too long?

Calling him a troll is a compliment.  He needs to be called a loser more often.  That's what he is.  If enough of us come together and call him a loser maybe he will go away.  He won't though.  Why?  Because he's a loser who has nothing better to do with his life than troll this board.

This is a little much.  What kind of hangout is this..?

Just reading the last 2 pages and Dirty Bird was way more of a jerk than atomic was.  Then everybody starts calling him names, and this....

    This is a bad look.

I have to say it... it was pretty reckless of Hyde to keep Harvey out there for 30+ pitches in an inning. His FB was good but he was laboring through the tough part of the lineup. He should’ve been pulled after Rendon. Instead he faced Soto and then Cabrera.

Hyde is kind of an idiot for that.

Hyde was the only guy willing to take the job and I can’t wait till he’s gone. He’s nothing more than Bo Porter 2.0.

With a post like this and you are calling Hyde the idiot?

Every report I've read said this was Peter Angelos personally doing the negotiating with Davis and his agent.   Behind the scenes, I doubt that Duquette supported it, with maybe Buck and/or Brady in support of a deal, but that's an assumption on my part, with no reports either way.   We do know Adam Jones was very vocal about it.

OK quick - and no cheating - this is important.  Based on these tweets, which consciousness is the more frightening?  Remember, your future depends on your answer.

That wasn't the purpose of my posting this information.  I figured it was interesting at both the Oriole and ML as a whole level.  If the O's had ranked 15th  I still would have posted it.

Lol, if the Orioles were 15th, it would either be a national news story, or another indictment of WAR.

Scanned the comments a little. Yanks fans saying their winning hurts their drafts- it does- and yet the Cards have kept rolling. I know they haven’t won as much as NY but still. Also Boston has done well.

    See my cheating comment.

Both Boston and St. Louis have been accused of some forms of cheating, sooooooo...
