He is Catching the first game of a DH right now. He is 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored. The Os are winning 7-1 in the 6th inning , so he is catching a great game.
AND he has a Stolen Base.

5IP, 1H, 0BB, 4K's and 62 pitches so far today. Guy is dealing.
Yeah having another dominating game right now.....He seems to be loving Bowie.

I don't see how that won't happen if he keeps it going, but at 85 pitches through six, it may be up to the bullpen for a combined no hitter.
Yeah maybe if it wasn’t a billion degrees outside they could push him. He needs 2 fast, clean innings....

He's not a rookie.
Get off my lawn.
So sure he is not a rookie but he realistically never should have been in MLB before right now.

The elimination of the second deadline is probably having an impact. Teams have to decide earlier if they are buying or selling.

I saw Daniel Cabrera thrown a ton of rising fastballs. Some of them went half way up the screen.

It's more of a philosophy of trying to find a diamond in the rough. The team did it during the great years of 2011-2016 along with 2017 and 2018 when there was an expectation of contending.
Doesn’t mean it was the right thing to do. And if Santander and someother AAAA guys were our big get.....still not convinced it is the correct strategy to Win.

I think the change to the rule 5, the slotting for the draft and slots for international players are all examples of the owners slowly chipping away at pre mlb players rights. And The players association hasn’t cared as it hasn’t effected current players. They also made the luxury cap penalties stiffer. The union has become pretty weak.
Its like boiling a frog slowly. They don’t realize it until it is too late.
No matter what they change, it doesn’t change the fact that the 25 man roster spot is way too valuable for contending teams.
so we decide every year, before the season even starts, that we are not going to be a contending team just on the basis of trying to keep a Rule 5 guy.

The only one who did anything was Flaherty. Overall I think we would have been better off without them. Since the rules changed it is too hard to get anyone worth it. We had the first pick overall this year and the best we could get is Martin.
At least Martin can play SS well and filled an immediate need. Most of the time we have just been picking guys for the sake of picking them, and hoping they work out.
Here we are.

Yeah it seem like in hindsight we were trotting our really bad and tired bullpen arms a lot of the time. Our staff ERA was always high (still is), and I seem to remember inherited runners scoring all the time.
maybe it is apples and oranges, but championship teams do not have roster space for Rule 5 dudes.

It's a low bar.
Do we agree that our teams would have been better equipped to win if we never even bothered with the Rule 5?

Obv not the best in baseball over the last few years, but is he the best of the bunch from these past several years (the years since we seem to have them every year)?
I hope he continues to get better....he sure is a tough out right now.

And there is talk of us trading these guys away rn. There are lots of good baseball players that were “former Orioles”

It really sucks that we have like zero success stories like this right now.

Nice. 7 very strong innings...so far...75 pitches, 47 strikes

Yeah and they just drafted him. You want him to do more? Start at Norfolk?

Thought this guy deserves a thread after being pretty dominant so far...
4 shutout innings as a starter today gives him 8 scoreless innings at GCL so far.
no walks and 6 K’s on the year leaves him.038 whip.
so 0.00 ERA and .038 whip after 3 games.
GCL shut out the GCL Red Sox today 2-0

Taking this comment with a grain of salt because I really don't think Roch's in the loop with the new regime. I can't think of a single story he's scooped since Elias took over.
This is pretty harsh. Rude, unnecessary and hyperbolic. Downvote worthy imo.

Not saying that the O's have been slow about getting their top 2 picks started as pros, but... Atlanta's 24th round pick from the 2019 draft already has 7 homers and 7 doubles in the Appy League.
Actually, I am saying the O's have been slow about getting their top 2 picks started as pros. Veeeerrrrrrrryyyyyyy ssssssllllllloooooowwwww.
Maybe “deliberate” is better suited.
This is the first time that this FO has done this, remember, and they have shown to be patient, and thorough.
